Just started skating lessons this year, and found these to be an excellent, affordable alternative to rental skates. I also bought a second pair in white for the wife, and she loves them as well.

Still a beginning ice skater..not a freestyle skater. Rental skates were not up to the task for learning certain ice skating maneuvers, and because I wanted to continue to grow with my skating, I bought my own. These skates fit great, look great, and have significantly improved my skating experience. No more rental skates for me. Note however that these skates (out of the box) come with a factory edge, and need to be taken to a pro-shop to be sharpened before going out onto the ice.
