Worked right out of the box. Pretty easy to set up.

easier to tuck this into a crowded miniature "UltraSmall" desktop PC than the same-model SSD offered inside a dummy-shell sized the same as a vintage spinning laptop drive.

It was probably good but it was not compatible with my system

I wound up with a new 128GB M.2 2242 SSD (wow it's so tiny!) and thought I'd use it to upgrade my old Dell 755 SFF desktop, which of course does not have an M.2 slot. After some research, I settled on this adapter board to facilitate the install. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition, with necessary hardware. The installation was pretty straightforward, and this board allowed me to clone my old drive to the M.2 using Acronis True Image (bootable CD) and a SATA to USB adapter I've had for years. After that I mounted the SSD/adapter assembly under the Dell's CD-ROM drive using the existing SATA cables and a standoff I had laying around, with room to spare. The resulting speed and performance boost was amazing; the new drive is lightning fast and this adapter doesn't slow it down. I can't speak to longevity as it's only been in service for a few days, but it's the perfect solution thus far, and very reasonably priced. I'll update this review if I have any problems down the road, but there's not much circuitry so I think it will do just fine. On a side note, these old Dells do a great job with office tasks, email, browsing/shopping, and streaming music and video. A Core 2 Quad upgrade, a 128GB SSD, and 8GB of PC2-6400 RAM (all very inexpensive) is the perfect combination for WIndows 10. This particular machine is setup as an HTPC, with a 4K UHD fanless low profile video card feeding a 65" 4K TV via HDMI. Rock solid, fast, and quiet. And amazingly inexpensive.
