The cable surface is highly polished to remove friction causing imperfections on the cable surface. These cables are a great fit for bikes with full cable housing and modern drivetrains.

I gave it five stars for performance. You might want to subtract one or two due to its price. This inner cable provides very smooth precise low friction shifting due to its die-drawn polished surface. I was a bike mechanic in a large shop for 5 years and have seen and tried them all. Polymer coated cables can be great if installed carefully but the polymer will strip off and gum things up over time. Hard polymer coating (often black) is probably the best polymer as it comes off as powder/flakes that doesn't gum thing up, and that had been my preferred cable. This polished cabled is as good. HINT: Spray any cable with McLube Sailkote. It's a very slick dry lube (not silicone) and reduces friction even further.

Used this for the dropper post on my gravel bike. I replaced a dura ace shifter cable and this one feels so much more slick

Good stainless steel cable that should last a few years but way too expensive for what it is. I had a generic stainless steel cable previously and don’t notice a difference.

the cable is very "slick", and reduced the friction in my rear shifting. A bit expensive in my opinion...but it is the best I have used. Used Jagwire lined housing with it. The tip is soldered so it was easy to get into my SRAM Force 11 speed shifter.

This polished cable is far better than the polymer-wrapped cables which eventually split and leave debris in the cable housing. I installed this cable along with new lined Sram Slickwire cable housings and Sram Red shifters and the shifting is smooth and almost effortless. (Note: I did put a light coating of Pedro's Syn Grease on the cable before installing, just for good measure.) The cable also cuts with no fraying, unlike the Sram cables that I previously used.

I've purchased both this Jagwire cable and the Shimano Optislick so I was able to compare them side by side. The Shimano cable has an added coating to make it smooth and it is very good but with the Jagwire the cable surface itself appears to have been polished making it the smoother of the two. The only possible downside with the Jagwire is that it's so slick that you have to take extra care when you clamp it down because if you don't get a fair amount of wrap around the screw the cable can slip. If you get it wrong you'll probably know before you finish setting the cable tension to index the shifter.

High quality replacement cable. Installation went smooth and the shifts on my rear derailleur are smooth now too. Recommended!
