I am loving the Jinhao Tiandao 1938. Got mine with a Medium nib for a change, and that was a good choice. Lays down a generous amount of ink, and I'm excited to try some super shaders in it. The feed has no issues keeping up, and the nib even has a bit of bounce to it. It's certainly not a flex nib, though. That said, it's a smooth writer and seems pretty well tuned.Speaking of ink, the huge converter is brilliant. Thank you, Jinhao, for actually making use of the space of this large bodies pen. It holds plenty of ink, and is a breeze to fill.It is a pretty large pen. It posts well, but it's large enough I never feel the need. It isn't overly heavy, but has a good heft to it. It's quite comfortable for longer writing sessions. When it comes to looks, everyone will have their own opinions. I love the look of it. That large #8 nib with the sabers on it is so fun to watch while writing. Love the deep green color. The barrel is super clear, letting that big converter full of ink be on display. Don't really have much bad to say about it so far.

I was drawn to this pen when I saw it on the Internet, mostly because it came with a converter to load it with ink from a bottle. I looked at the reviews and they were very positive. People said they were shocked at how nice the pen was for the price. Now that I have received my pen, I too am shocked. This pen writes so smoothly. It never skips and it is a joy to write with. It is a larger size than most pens and I find that it really does not make a difference to me. I highly recommend this pen!!

I bought the pen based on its retro look and low price.I was pleasantly surprised by its performance and feel.I used it every day for 3 weeks and never ran out of ink. The ink reservoir is large, as is the pen.But the pen feels quite comfortable in my hand.I bought the green modelI would buy this pen again.

I gave this pen 3 stars because it's a great writer so far. I haven't had any hard starts and the ink flow is great. The only issue I have is that I ordered the fine nib but the line width is insane for a fine. It's comparable to my hongdian forest pen medium nib! Which is fine because I do prefer a thicker nib like a medium but that's not what I initially ordered this pen for. I wanted to see what nib size I liked the most and so I ordered one fine nib pen and one medium nib pen, but they both ended up being the same! I do like the thickness of the pen body and I don't find it uncomfortable at all however anyone that prefers a thinner pen body or grip section probably won't like this model.

This is a fantastic fountain pen that not only looks far more expensive than it is, but writes wonderfully too. I've owned plenty of Jinhao pens, from the time they started emerging on the fountain pen scene and they've been really upping their game. I'm especially love the bigger converter that holds more ink than the usual standard. There's some interesting Chinese history behind the design of this pen. A quick YouTube search will fill you in on the details if you're interested. It's also a fairly light pen for its size. I purchased the medium point nib, which is always my favorite, especially when using shading and shimmering inks. No hard starts after a day or two.

This is an amazing fountain pen for the price. It looks lovely and has a very large ink reservoir. The rating quality is superb for this type of pen. It also posts very well and is comfortable to hold and right with. I ended up liking this pen so much that I bought two more, the red one and the blue one..

This is a typically good Jinhao pen. I’m amazed that they can build such a nice pen for so little money. It’s plastic, but it has a flawless #8 nib, a large ink capacity, and an interesting story. It feels good in the hand, if you can tolerate big pens. The nib and feed are smooth and pleasantly wet. For the money, you can’t go wrong.

Smooth nib, writes well, but... It's not really a piston filler - it has a piston filled converter.

Do you have lots of writing to edit or lists to review? Does your hand ache from putting thick red lines through other people's names? This is the pen for you!The number 8 size nib lays down a ton of ink while bouncing like a mattress and the thick plastic body is satisfying to hold (which handsomely displays the good quality oversized converter). It has leaked into the cap once or twice but the seal has held and it did not reach my clothing.People are certainly interested by the handsome red hue and gold star finnial - and if you want, you can learn some of the history Jinhao was referencing with the design (thrilling wikipedia reading awaits you). Great pen for the value.
