I tried using a cheaper aftermarket pulley but it didn't last as long as the genuine JD pulley. My original pulley lasted 20+ seasons. Plus, when the cheap pulley went out, it ate up the drive belt. So, I had to replace the pulley and drive belt after only a season and a half. I learned my lesson, if you want parts that will last 10+ seasons, buy genuine JD.
