I bought this to replace a much cheaper one I bought from a well-known German supermarket a number of years ago and which had been used regularly since I got it. (It didn’t survive being dropped and then trodden on, unfortunately.)This is, as far as I can tell, exactly the same design.I particularly like the push-button lid opening so you can use it one-handed as it makes it much easier to use.I keep it on the kitchen counter for teabags and vegetable peelings which get added to the garden compost bin every few days or so.What I don’t like about it is the lurid green stripe around the top.The item details show it’s available in grey or this garish green but won’t allow you to choose the colour!I really hoped I’d receive the tasteful grey one but it wasn’t to be...

I really like this bin. I have a small kitchen and therefore needed a small food bin. This fits the brief and as a bonus the little bin clicks shut so no smells.

The compost countertop bin is a great idea, but this one has a fatal design flaw: the tiny, thin hinges for the lid break off easily, making the unit unfit. (The rest of the bin is fairly sturdy, so why the hinges are so substandard is a great mystery.)The seller didn’t box my bin, just wrapped it in a plastic shipping bag. The hinges were broken during shipping, which maybe having used a box would have prevented. Still, it wouldn’t have taken much for them to break in normal use even if they had survived the poor packaging for shipping.Save yourself the hassle of an inevitable failure and look for a different bin instead.

This little compost keeper is the perfect size for a single person who now has to separate food scraps as required by my trash service company. I empty it once a week and there are no odors. It's made of plastic and is easy to clean. I use the plastic bags in it that I bring my fruits and vegetables home in from the market. It sits on my counter and goes unnoticed, which I like.

I no longer had a garbage disposal and was noticing odor from the trash can. I didn’t want to take the bag out every day if it wasn’t full. So I tried this. It works!

This container has been in use for a few months.The lid opens and closes easily, the container does not retain smells when used with plastic bags, very easy removal of plastic bags, very easy installation of plastic bags, dishwasher safe, great countertop size, manually cleans easily with cloth.Highly recommended product if you don't have a garbage disposal or want to collect small amounts of food scraps for compost. Fits at least 6 large whole tomatoes.Will purchase again and planning on giving it as a gift to my rurally located friends!

Definitely not worth the money. For some reason I thought it would be a bit bigger... but it does the job. I like the fact that you have to give it a good push for it to open, I won't worry about it not closing.
