If you follow the instructions carefully, especially regarding pH levels, this starter will serve you well. I’ve been using it for a while now and have brewed about 12 gallons with multiple generations of SCOBY thriving. The culture is strong and resilient, making it easy to maintain and continue fermenting without issues. One of the standout features is the clear and well-structured instructions that come with it. Even if you’re new to brewing, the step-by-step guidance makes the process straightforward and stress-free. I appreciated the detailed explanations on fermentation times, tea choices, and troubleshooting tips—it helped me feel confident from the start. The flavor is fantastic—lighter and smoother than traditional kombucha. The combination of green tea and honey gives it a refreshing, slightly floral taste that feels less acidic than regular black tea-based kombucha. I’ve even experimented with different teas and honeys, and the culture adapts well, consistently producing a balanced, mildly effervescent drink. If you’re looking for a high-quality, organic Jun starter, this is an excellent choice. It’s versatile, long-lasting, and delivers great results batch after batch. Whether you’re new to Jun or an experienced brewer, this starter culture is a solid investment in delicious, homemade kombucha!

Arrived with a grainy looking scoby, not formed at all. Mushy grey/brown and dead, disintegrated. It should resemble a disk. Don't buy this product and buy from elsewhere. I still tried hoping it would live but nope. Rip off! If I could get my money back I would.

Jun scoby looked viable and everything smelled right, but it was dead. Package date is 06/28/2025 lot #3198, purchased in Feb 2025. Would like a replacement scoby, but buyer beware, this $18 product is perishable and thus is not eligible for replacement.

I have been a little leary of trying to make kombucha and then I tasted Jun tea kombucha. I loved it immediately and ordered this starter culture. Clear easy to follow instructions and everything except the green tea leaves to get started. I am on my second batch now. It is delicious and was really easy even for a total beginner. Love that it is made with green tea and honey.

this SCOBY has been a rock for me, creating amazing kombucha for months now and it keeps growing, I've had to remove layers twice already

Just follow the instructions, and all should be ok! The pH testing might seem like overkill, but it is a sure-proof method. Thank you for clear instructions!

I only gave 4 🌟 for easy to use because of the time involved in the set-up. I set it up 10 days ago and it formed a pretty good pellicle really fast. It was ready for its second ferment with flavouring by the 8th day. Kept the temperature around 23°C.I was a bit worried when it arrived as it was in sub-freezing temperature on the delivery truck for about 8 hours. No harm done though.

Very pleased with this product. Made my first batch of kombucha with this scoby, now on my 3rd batch with this particular one with great success using gunpowder green tea.

Solid, strong scoby that has yielded many amazing batches. Even when I let a brew go too long, souring the taste and causing me to have to dump a couple batches from user error, this scoby maintained strength.BREWING NOTES: For the best taste, allow 3 days to brew / 3 days in bottle. This will give you amazing results. If you currently make Kombucha, be aware that this is more of a commitment since you are now having to start a new batch every 3 days. Took me a while and a few failed batches to get used to it all. Also, Stasch makes amazing Green Tea for a great price. For Raw Honey, I have found the farmers market tends to have the best prices. I am a huge fan of Costco but I found their Raw Honey selection didn't taste quite right for some reason. Where the bees collect pollen from will vastly change the taste of your Jun. And finally, my favorite part about Jun vs. Kombucha is that I don't need to flavor it for a batch to taste great. It's perfect right from the start. Even my wife who is very particular about what kombucha she likes has told me many times that Jun is the best tasting drink she has ever had.Happy Brewing!
