The item is well-made. The magnet is quite strong. It has two pieces: Piece 1 screws into your lens filter mount. Piece 2 is where you screw the filter onto. So far, so good. The magnet is strong. I would trust the filter to stay on the lens except in very tough conditions. However, there is a Big Caveat. If you use this device with a circular polarizer, turning the polarizer only spins the magnet and doesn't turn the filter to achieve the polarization. A circular polarizer depends on the steady, hard-rock connection with the lens barrel. Then, when you turn the outer element of the polarizer, the inner element remains steady. With this attachment, both elements of the filter turn together, sliding along the magnet, so you get no polarization. Any other type filter should work fine. For quick changing of filters, this is pretty sweet ---but not circular polarizers.
