Love this reel. I have 2 of them for casting spoons for salmon. The faster retrieve on the gear ratio lets me do less work for the same thump.

I have another larger KastKing reel that I use for salmon and steelhead. I purchased this because my Eagle Claw reel finally wore out. I feel this KastKing will be a durable replacement. It has a very positive bail throw and a smooth action. It is a great size and weight for my 6 ' 5 " spinning rod. I chose the color red which stands out in contrast to the brush. When I set my pole down, it's easy to find it again because it is bright red. Don't overfill the spool, line comes off and tangles easily if you do that. Caught a small trout today. The reel worked very well this morning fishing.

awesome reel have already replaced all 5 of my old 5.1.1/5.2.1 gear spinning set ups, best price with 6.2.1 high gear speed and 7 stainless closed bearings its hard to pass up.

Spool stopped moving up and down so line ends up gathering on top in one place. Subsequently, when casting, birds nests results on line. Only used lightly around 10 times. Do not buy this brand.

Very well built .bail snaps over with percussion , looking forward to ripping some lips with it ! If had to be critical drag should be a little louder & reel a little lighter. All & all I’d buy another.

This is a nice reel for the money. The action is smooth, the gearing quiet, I am sure it will perform well for years to come. I have just returned to fresh water fishing to be able to take my grand children fishing here on the Cape on some of the inland ponds and small lakes we have that the State actually stocks. Have not yet put it to use but expect I will enjoy the quick action this new reel will provide. There were clearly many more expensive reels to consider but more cost will not shine with more quality and performance. I would recommend this reel for the average person that wants quality at a reasonable price.

I just got the reel & haven't fished with it yet. I just want to give my initial impressions.I'll update my review after I've used it a few times.The first things I noticed were, first of all, unlike some of the other Kast King spinning reels I've bought this one only comes with one spool.That's not a problem for me since the spare spools are usually not the best quality anyway. It's just nice to have a backup if you only bring one reel and happen to get spooled.The reel also has an anti reverse switch, another thing I never use, and one more thing to go wrong, but I know they're people who do like to use it.It should be fine as long as it's kept clean and free of salt or sand.When I put the handle on I realized that it doesn't fold.I rarely fold my handles anyway, but it can be a useful feature at times.Otherwise this reel seems like a great little reel for the money.It's very smooth and feels solid.It's possibly a little heavy for a reel of it's size, but I consider that a trade-off for the aluminum spool and solid frame, which I'd choose over plastic all day long.The description says the reel has a carbon fiber drag and stainless steel main shaft and double shielded ball bearings.This reel should last a long time and perform well with a little bit of routine maintenance.This should be a great little all purpose reel for fresh and salt water.

these reels feal like a high dollar reel, It feels well made and should last a long time. The drag is smooth and the finish is nice.
