These are heavy duty tools. They're primitive but that's not a bad thing. They're raw cut heavy stainless. The handles are comfortable and offer a good grip to lift and manipulate larger logs. The poker is designed well and has both push and pull points. The pull point is designed with reinforcement to the point it should last a lifetime or more. The tongs have sharp teeth throughout the jaws making it easy to grab and hold logs for preferred placement. These are raw cut like most of the similar ones I've seen which means there could be sharp edges. I recommend running a file down the edges a few swipes to help eliminate the chances of a sheet metal cut. They absolutely suck and often require stitches so use your better judgment.

Very long tongs for handling burning logs in a bonfire, wood log smoker, or firepit.I personally would not use these indoors.Pros:-Thick rubber grips with good texture. The soft rubber will allow you to keep your grip when maneuvering large items with care.-Forty inches long standing up.-Good tooth design, was able to easily grip a log and rotate it without losing grip. Did not need to squeeze for more security.-Thick metal.-Log poker is very sharp on both ends, good for splitting. Cons:-Forty inches long standing up.-Storage may be an issue because they are so long.-The poker is also sharp, you may get it stuck to a burning log if you are just trying to nudge something. Does not have a dull end, so be warned, depending on your situation.

When I first took these out of the package, I was shocked by how long they are. The promotional page on Amazon clearly says these are 40-inch tongs, but I was still surprised. I guess I’m used to seeing those little racks of fireplace tools that people keep in their houses by the fireplace. I have a hard time imagining keeping these in the house by the fireplace. Unless you have a good place to store them, they’re too massive for that. For scale, I’ve provided a photo of them lying across a two-person loveseat and another photo of them leaning up against my Solo Bonfire stove.“Decorative” is not a word I would use to describe these. These tools are purely functional. I have a brother-in-law who loves to work with metal in his garage/home shop. It’s a hobby for him, not a profession. These have the look and feel of something he might make if I asked him to take it on as a challenge. The steel is solid, but kind of raw looking. There are places where the welds (and scorch marks) are pretty obvious. The rubber grips are functional, but basic.I think these are ideal for outdoor use…campfires and large fire pits. The length allows you to do what you need to do without getting too close to the flames. The industrial-grade steel makes them feel like they will withstand some abuse. I have handled some pretty good-sized logs with the tongs and they grip them well. I would exercise caution about leaving these out in the weather, though; I have a feeling that rust would form pretty quickly after a rain.I ordered these for use outside with my fire pits and campfires so, for me, these are perfect. If you’re looking for something a little more decorative or with a more upscale appearance, you should look elsewhere.

It took using my new fire pit one time to realize my ding dong self didn't have a poker or anything to use as one. This set works great is and great quality. Highly recommend.

So nice and much safer than using a rake or a stick! These are very well made stainless. Nice cushy rubber grips. Almost like a bike grips. Lots of leverage on the grabbers makes moving new wood or adjusting hot logs easy and safe. The poker has 2 very pointy parts. They really dig in enough to move logs around.I have a small set for my indoor fireplace. While they work they are too short and with a rager going you can't stand too close. With these 40" tools I can do what I need to keep the fire where it should be and not singe the hair on my hands.

This is a large set of fire pit tools. They are made of solid metal, and work very well. I expect they will last a long time.

this is one of those situations where you think -- why not save 50 bucks and just get these no name brand versions cause I'm sure they'll do this basic task just fine. And they kind do, but you are likely better off spending 50 to 75% more money to get something that's higher quality with more attention to detail. We have a custom grill that has a fireplace / pit beneath it -- and we are really looking forward to using it for the first time this fall. Given how deep and award it is, thought we'd need something like this, more than regular fireplace tools, to handle the wood. And while these will make you feel like you are ready to roast a brontosaurus (I know I know brachiosaurus), or set a redwood alight ... they are kind raw and a let down in some key areas. The tongs are REALLY loose and hard to manage -- the handles can way too easily splay apart, and even when closing, clasping them together ... the connecting bolt / joint is kinda wonky and less than stable. Just think someitng like this, when picking up large logs, should not be this unwieldy and "floppy." also, these finishes are really raw and messy -- I dont really think these will last outside in the elements, and sure they'll rust within one season. They are also really sharp and can easily take a chunk out of bricks, limestone or our fancy poured concrete patio table ... and without a case or something to store them in, well given how long they are, can easily see just whacking something in regular use ... and dont really want to store these by our fireplace given that they could easily rip a gash ni our chill chairs. So yeah, I would splurge even double the cost for something easier to use, with higher end materials, and that's made to store in a normal house ... if you live in a cabin in the woods, Bunyan style, and have like a shed to chuck these in ... the discounted price will be nice, otherwise, advise to shop around.
