It is a functional U lock. My only issue is that it’s difficult to turn the number dial.I already had one so was aware of this, but for the price point, bought it anyway. Sometimes I have to use a key or a stick to turn the number dial because it’s difficulty at the fingers in that small space. But I wanted a combo lock for my kids so they didn’t have to keep track of a key
