Bought for my new fence gate, so muck better than the cheesy one that came with gate kit

Pretty solid latch holds up well. Install could be tricky and drilling 2 big holes for the rods to pass thru into new posts really isn't the best idea your pretty much stuck with this brand. Template makes an easier install.

Be careful when using on a steel-frame gate. Excellent product, but the side plates extended beyond the width of the gate frame. Was able to accommodate by layering vinyl 0.5" of vinyl flooring to increase the width at the lock-set. It has been installed fro a month now and works flawlessly.

Good quality. Installed on a wood fence. I would like to see the latching mechanism spring loaded but other than that I would buy again.

I got this lock about a week ago and installed it just yesterday and it looks great and is very functional. The problem I have with it is the lock core of it seems as though it could fall out at any minute. Not sure if mine is slightly defective or not but we will see how it holds up over time. Would recommend but buyer beware the core feels oddly loose.

If you are installing on standard 4x4 posts, this will only work on the right side.If you want to open the gate from the left side (pulling in towards you) the inside latch cannot be installed. When installed on the left side of the gate (opening in towards you) you have to put a notch in the post to accommodate the bracket. The product description is wrong. This not a left or right side latch.

This lock saved me and solved my problem. I needed the back porch to open on both sides so my wife can shorten a 10 minutes walk to the bus station. It arrived pretty quick and the installation was piece of cake.It works great. I have no idea how it will be in time but I expect the best.

Good quality product. I like opening with the push button from the outside. Only cons that get some time to figure out is how to insert and remove the key on an angle.

I just installed this lock on my wooden gate. It works really well and I am impressed with the build quality. The installation instructions are well written and illustrated and overall I think they have made it as easy as possible to install. That being said, if you are a regular homeowner with little experience with more complicated installations be prepared that this may be a bit challenging. You can do it if you really think out each step and go slowly. One deceptively challenging part is drilling a hole precisely level and straight through the post part of the fence. That part is really important if the lock is to install well and work smoothly. The main thing is to drill the hole from one side halfway through the post then drill it from the other side halfway so the two holes meet in the middle, forming one long hole through the post. I also used a 1/8" drill to first drill a pilot hole this same way and then drilled with the big 5/8" drill. Also, making sure that when you cut off the rods that connect the front part to the back part of the lock you carefully measure. In my case the score lines were not exactly in the right place. I also used a hack saw so that I wouldn't bend the rods. Those are my tips. Like I said, if you go slowly and think out each step it should all go smoothly.

Like that it is easy to open and close and that it locks or unlocks from both sides

I installed this gate latch and am very impressed with everything about it. The instructions are very clear and the template that is supplied to ensure that you get a level/clean installation was very handy. I did read several complaints that the screws that are included in the package are not the best quality, BUT, get the proper screw driver and they work fine. I put a little liquid dish soap on each and they went in to treated lumber well. I did use longer screws on the gate portion because of the way that my gate is constructed. I needed to ensure that i was driving through the meat of the board, and not just the trim pieces so that the weight of the gate didn't loosen things over time. You will need to make two cuts on the metal pins that connect the front and back pieces of the latch, but they are marked very clearly. One thing that wasn't clear to me was whether the lock mechanism is required for use. BOTH sides of the latch require keys, so if you unlock both of them and put the keys in the garage you don't ever have to be worried about getting locked behind the gate. :) . I don't need to lock my gate, but I needed a sturdy latch and this product really fills that need. My pics are in this order; Outside of the gate with the gate closed. The post with the Outside and Inside latches installed. Inside of the gate with the gate closed. The gate pin with the longer screws so that I could drive in to the 2x6 in the middle of the gate. Installation took less than an hour. I need to build another service yard on the side of my house this summer to cover a propane tank, etc, and I will purchase this same unit.
