I got this as a birthday gift for my nephew.This is definitely just a toy. I am not sure where did they get the 1080p video capabilities, this is not true. It doesn't take good pictures and definitely doesn't take good videos. It does however work as advertised and the projector part is quite a fun feature.It is not very bright so it has to be very dark in the room.But it is a cool toy anyway and my nephew seems to enjoy it a lot

Okay let's get the easy part out of the way: It is a "kid's video camera" **AND** it also has a movie projector!Okay let's shove the kids aside and talk shop: You know what, this is actually a decent video camera! As an award-winning filmmaker (and yes I took film studies at Harvard) -- let me tell you something. This is dangerous! It is a fixed lens (so you are limited to what you see, not what you can focus in on), but the zoom really works (10x). It shoots GREAT photos and very good 1080p HD.Think of this as a "toy" that you can use in a pinch to get some awesome shots and video. Yes, you have to shoot close. yes, you have to really work the lighting, because the glass (the lenses) won't do the work for you on this. You won't get a "complex depth of field portraiture" (blah, blah, blah) but if you shoot close and you have an eye (it's all about lighting — any camera ONLY CAPTURES what you see. A good lens will help, and the magic of editing is where the real quality comes out these days), but if you have an eye, you can make some fun films with this.It is SUPER durable (compared to my Canon or Sony) because it is made to be dropped, so this is really good for outdoor close up work. The functions are quite impressive but the controls are simplified for kids (really they are simplified for adults — kids learn this stuff too fast).But this is dangerous: Think about this. You are putting the ability for anyone to capture video and still photos instantly and anywhere. AND THEN they are able ti instantly PROJECT that on any wall or screen (up to huge sizes). In the right hands this "toy" can end careers (catching people doing . . . "things" and instantly broadcasting them or porting them into a laptop/tablet/phone for instant broadcast on the Internet.Or you can just have fun making home movies. But this really is a fun video camera and it works very nicely. The fact that it is a projector is far and away the best because you can land ANY movie on a MicroSD and project it instantly. And that is kinda cool!
