Non-directional reduces one of the ways you might screw up installation. The reusable missing link makes connecting the ends super easy. Buy any affordable Chain Breaker Splitter Tool and Bike Link Opener Closer Plier and you are set. Saw a great install video that recommended degreasing new chains to remove the anti-corrosion material they ship with from the factory. I did that (seemed like a good idea) and lubed this up and the improvement in my ride was immediately noticeable.

The chain I ordered for my 9 speed bike was too small. And when I say too small, not like a link or two too small, 6 links too small.I had to add links to extend it long enough.
