True American Wire Gauge (AWG) Products
- Using American Wire Gauge standards, the gauge of stranded wire is determined by the total area of the conductor.
- To calculate this you would take the area of each strand and add it together. This area, in square mm, then determines gauge.
- Diameter is not as critical with stranded wire, this is due to the tiny air gaps between each strand. Diameter may fluctuate with strand size and how tightly wound the rope of the cable is.
- The smaller the number, the larger the wire, until you reach zero or aught (0 or 1/0). From zero, you then have double aught (00 or 2/0), three aught (000 or 3/0) ...
- Based on AWG, the true gauge of this cable is #4
Tinned Copper - What the Pros Recommend
- When bare copper is exposed to oxygen, it oxidizes over time (turns brown/green).
- These contaminants are damaging to the cable's ability to conduct electricity.
- Tin provides a protective barrier from oxygen to the bare copper underneath.
- By adding a thin layer of tin to each strand, the cable is no longer able to oxidize.
- Tin does not react with oxygen and therefore the cable will never change color or have any change in its ability to conduct electricity

I have not come across anything I do not like about this wire. The insulation seems really good, wire is ultra flexible. The tinned copper will prevent corrosion. All in all a great product.

Was looking for a solid copper line not ofc for my amps. These fit the need. Important to understand the difference in solid cooper wire and 0FC copper wires. This line will carry the power/ support needed. Quality wire with great shipping. Must buy when needing a wire in this category. A little more then OFC but best when wanting the job done right.

I don't know if there is better wire out there, this stuff reminds me of a small gauge wire I used in rc racing called wet noodle...this is the super sized version, high continuous amp load and as flexible as can be

I've now ordered this cable several times for projects on my Jeep and very happy with it. This order was to provide a power run to a secondary fuse block to power my lights that I've added all over the Jeep. In combination with a nice braided sleeve it makes for a clean look and provides more than enough power.I previously installed this same cable in a different color for a digital amp and to upgrade the "Big 3" and they have lasted about 5 years with no issues. I'll but more from this company I'm sure.
