Already had the 40V battery and charger. I have commercial Husqvarna and Stihl straight shaft trimmers But wanted something lighter for around the house.You are not going to cut down a forest with this trimmer, but it certainly is lightweight and makes the task of trimming out your home, sidewalk, and driveway much more pleasant than using a noisy gasoline trimmer weighing twice as much. I have a lawn that is almost 1 acre and used less than half the fully charged battery to trim out everything.I’m very happy with this purchase.

Works nicely for our small yard. Reasonably balanced. Not too heavy but gets heavier with longer use :). I'm 5'4", female in mid 70's. I find the trimmer is a little long when I'm in tighter spaces. If you do a lot of edge trimming I would recommend going with the multi head trimmer with the wheeled edger rather than this model. I use either a 5.0 or 4.0 battery. Charge holds ok but if using for heaver edge trimming I end up using both batteries. We have Kobalt lawn mower and leaf blower too. it's really handy to swap batteries around when doing lawn work.

For someone who is tired of maintaining has engines that sit for months, this is great. It's not as strong as a top of the line gas unit but it's not supposed to be. This works just fine for smaller jobs on one battery and had enough power to rip through your average weed eating job.

Didn’t need yet another battery for my Kobalt line of yard tools so ordered this trimmer which doesn’t include the battery and charger. Only used once so far but worked fine.
