I made the mistake of buying a product that only said it was compatible with Kohler valves. What a huge mistake. When I bought the other part on this site, there had to be 50 generic options. When I went to look for the part again and specified genuine Kohler, The genuine item from the original manufacturer was easily found. It was easy to install and 100% leak proof. I will remember to always buy the original brand when replacing parts for anything.

Caution is advised if you are trying to replace the exact pressure valve.I ordered this to replace the Kohler GP500520 (mixer valve) and GP800820 (pressure valve). The set was listed for $20 more for these two parts than the set that contained the GP77759 (newer model pressure valve replacement).

My shower mixing valve is 12 yrs old with no p/n on the unit. although, it did say Kohler on the outside rim. I took my old one out and did the best i could in matching it to the pictures on line. Fortunately, i guessed right so the parts fit. The replacement unit was a bit pricey. it did go in well, so installation was easy.

After four years of use, Our Kohler shower became either very hot or very cold, no variability. On the internet this was a common problem. I used the Kohler website to find the correct part number. I bought from Amazon and saved $40 compared to Home Depot / Lowe's.I was able to successfully replace the old parts with the new parts and the shower works properly.Make sure to turn off your house water supply. I also turned off the water from the water heaters.FYI - our Kohler had a white plastic threaded sleeve that attaches the shower handle - this was somewhat difficult to remove - use a flat head screwdriver to pry the white sleeve off the old valve and re-install on the new valve AFTER the new valve is installed.Happy we did not have to call a plumber and would recommend the part and the ability to do the work ourselves.

The installation of the mixer and valve was easy. The only problem was the original decorative trim pieces. I was wondering why there was caulking on a sleeve part and the bigger trim piece. There’s a gap that shouldn’t be there. So I put some caulking in the same location and let it cure for a few hours. After that I don’t have to worry about water running behind the wall. I looked at the other bathroom that had the same setup and there wasn’t any caulking. The trim piece and sleeve were fitted perfectly. I’m not sure where the problem with the fit is coming from. Maybe the mounting piece is off? Other wise the replacement valve runs fine without any leak now. Installation of the valve took less than 10 minutes. Unscrew the screws and pull off the valve and pull out the balancing mixer. The 10 minutes included removing the trim pieces.

Glad I sound this on Amazon as no local Kohler dealer carries parts! Easy to install after watching video on Kohler's website.
