These are perfect because they are substantial, stay in place and have deep grooves that reliably protect surfaces. I have several; a black one stays invisibly on one corner of my glass stovetop cooking surface. It’s a resting place for hot things coming out of the oven or coming off a burner. Less clatter and protects the glass. It moves to the table when I need a hot mat Also, since I don’t have a dish drainer on the counter, it also serves as a draining spot for the occasional hand-washed item.A second and third one move around the house as needed. Next to laptop, on night table, serving table, etc..The price here seems high. I believe I bought mine over the years from a manufacturer’s outlet at about half this amount but i still would buy it at this price because they are so useful and they do not wear out as far as I can tell. My first one is decades old and after regular usestill looks brand new.

I have a number of Le Creuset mats which I use to protect my kitchen surfaces. They are expensive but well worth the cost as they are extremely good quality, they do not wear out nor lose their looks and they are extremely effective at heat protection.

This is great for putting extra large, hot and heavy pots or pans on the counter. It’s bright red so it’s easy to spot on a cluttered counter while making Christmas dinner. I have the smaller ones too, they’re great for regular and smaller cookware. It’s all kept my marble counter safe and stain-free.

I love my Le Creuset Silicone Surface Protector. I bought one when I first bought my dutch oven. This is large enough ( 11.5" x 11.5" , 15" diagonal) that I can set my pot directly on the table and serve from it. When I am not using it as a trivet, I have it on the counter to the left of my stove. I put everything on it - pots, frying pans, spoons, dishes... It is quiet - no banging, soft - no breaking, EASY to clean - pick it up and put under the faucet, the ring design keeps mess from getting on the counter.. This purchase was for a second one to extend the covered area on my counter. Well worth every penny (although I don't understand why it is so expensive). I had been looking for a blue one for a long time. Go for it before they are gone.

I was at the Le Creuset outlet near me and my mission was the 7.25 quart Dutch Oven. This silicone mat caught my eye and I bought it without even looking at the price. Later I realized I had dropped 20 bucks on it and thought, "oh...maybe I shouldn't have done that - that's a lot of money." However, I have come to LOVE this mat and might even buy another one! Not only can you put hot pots on it, but I never had anyplace to put the hot LIDS as I was checking on my cooking. Now I do. It holds a cookie sheet or roasting pan just fine since it is so nice and big. Another major use I find for it is to stabilize my cutting boards - some of which are slightly less than perfect (a bit warped). I have a lot of respect for sharp things and I really hate it when the cutting board wants to slide even a little bit on the counter. This mat holds them still. I love how big this mat is.Highly recommended.****update****I bought a second one and use both of them every time I cook.****update #2****I have since bought them as gifts for my daughter, my sister and my grandmother. They are all happy with them as well.
