These are great. I have nicer sets I perform with but they have harder glow balls that can really hurt if you mis-spin. I always have drunk people coming up to ask if they can play with my poi at events, and these are soft enough I can hand them off to Karen to play with, and not worry they're going to give themselves a concussion. These are also good for kids and beginners to learn with, finger loops are a crutch and they will learn better form without them.

The material is soft and the included slings are soft and easy to work with. I sort of wish there was a closure on the material but haven't had any balls fall out. The LEDs are visible during the day indoors, but really shine (ha) at night. Cycling the power button goes through red, green, blue, chartreuse, light blue, violet, cool white, a 2-second crossfade through all those colors, and an 8-second crossfade through all colors. These poi light up via a small switch and are powered by 3 LR44 1.5V batteries. Initially I was disappointed but realized this helps their longevity. The battery door is secured with a #0 PH screw. I prefer the latch style but understand this is safer in case of small children.I felt these were decent for beginners but the list price of $20 seems a bit high given the materials. Still, they're fun to twirl around!

I've been spinning for 3 years. I would say I am still in the learning stages. As a semi-beginner I like that the balls are made of a soft silicone. They are less likely to leave a bruise when accidental contact occurs. It's nice to be able to achieve a similar view as fire without risking burns. The LEDs change color as you spin. I did have to take the batteries out and put them back in one of the balls. They had become loose during shipping. What I'm not wild about is the grips or lack there of. I am trying to figure out how best to hold them or attach knobs. I have been using homemade poi that are heavier. I kind of miss the weight of them.
