Imagine my surprise when my old Zefel XP frame pump finally gave up the ghost, RIP, to find that top tube frame pumps seem to have gone the way of the dodo bird. There was only a few options available and they were more than I was willing to spend. I really only needed something for the occasional flat out on the road that could get enough pressure to make it home. I liked the all metal construction on this little guy and after a recommendation from a good friend pulled the trigger and ordered one. I have nothing bad to say about this pump and the only reason it got only four stars was it was a bit overpriced for what you get. I hope it lasts for many years and have no reason upon, inspection, to think that it will not.

I just got this pump today as a backup to my CO2 gun. I haven’t had to use it in the field yet, but I did test it in my garage and I didn’t have any of the problems other reviewers have mentioned with it unscrewing the Presta valve core from the stem when removing the hose. Another plus of this pump is that it weighs a little less than the pump I’m replacing and it matches the graphics on my bike. (See photo) It seems to be a very well made piece of equipment and I really like it.

This pump is everything that a roadie like me would want. It is soooooo light, lighter than I expected. Add on to that the size of this pump at its most compact can fit in my outstretched hand, and I thought I had been bamboozled. "There is no way it pumps up to even 80 psi", I said as I screwed on the hose to the presta valve. Boy was I wrong. I got up to at least 80 if not 90 without breaking a sweat (and I have little to no upper body strength). Top that all off with the release valve on the hose and the valve core tool, and it is one handy little pump. Finally, the mounting bracket it comes with is solid metal and fits beautifully on the bike. I am not going to buy another make/model of mini pump ever again, and you shouldn't either.

For the presta attachment to deliver air, it must be screwed on the valve so ridiculously tight, that when you unscrew it, it unscrews the valve from the stem, instead of unscrewing the attachment from the valve.I've tried not screwing it on as tightly: doesn't work. If it's screwed tightly enough to allow air to go in, it's too tight to unscrew without removing the valve. This was supposed to be it: the super lightweight pump that you paid a little more for but didn't have to worry about reliability. Sorry to say: this isn't that. I imagine given the overwhelming number of positive reviews, that people are able to finesse it and use it reliably. Not me. In my opinion, you should not have to finesse the valve attachment this much, therefore it's simply not a good product, as-is, for presta. It's a shame because the concept behind the pump is really great, but avoid screw on presta attachments at all cost, it's not worth your sanity. That's why I think this pump is worse than useless: you waste every second you spend on this, and also risk damage to your presta valves.

I messed around with cheap mini-pumps for years and more than once they left me stranded by damaging the valve core or stem or just not working. This Lezyne Pocket Pro Mini is the answer to my prayers. Very compact, very lightweight and it’s easy to use and it won’t chew up your valve stem - works on both Schaefer and Presta. When changing a 700c road tire, 200 pumps with this mini pump will make the tire hard enough to get home, 300 pumps will get it nice and hard. High quality and easy to use!

Bella, leggera, piccola.

I used to carry a C02 pump, but was stranded 50+ miles from home a few weeks ago when I got two flats back to back (never before happened in 15 years of year round biking), and for some reason my second cartridge kamikazied itself as soon as I screwed it in. I had to do the most shameful thing ever and have my wife pick me up in her minivan, and I vowed to never let it happen again.I bought this with high hopes, and they were completely exceeded. Ok, here’s the things I wanted to know, but couldn’t figure out from online reviews… this also applies to the other Lezyne mini pumps. The “screw on portion” screws on to the valve portion of the stem. So if you have smooth stems, you’re still set, it only catches the very very end of the stem.I tried really really hard to get it to unscrew the valve like some reviews have said, and did not have luck with that. I have a valve stem tool on my multi tool anyways. I suppose if I was really worried about it I could blue loctite the valves in there. 20 seconds of work, and I don’t mind anything that has to do with bike work. Are you still concerned about the valve getting unscrewed? You can order the Lezyne slip chuck (the black plastic one) and it fits on the Schrader end of the valve and just slips on and off of presta valves. I ordered it before hand, and it works great. It didn’t slip off up to 90 psi.I put myself through it and pumped up a flat to 90 psi in my shop 4 times with this thing. It took me between 4 minutes to 5 minutes of pumping. It was moderately tough, but not what I would call difficult. I did have more luck when I oriented the tire to be lying down, and pumped downwards. The air release valve on the presta side is a great feature so you don’t have to fight the air pressure in the hose when unthreading.I am a roadie so I don't own any bikes with schrader valves so I can’t tell you if that side works well. This fits in both of my different under seat bags, along with spare tube, multi tool, patch kit, and a few Clif Bars. It is truly miniature, and I really love it. I tore it down and it’s a nice simple design, not much to go wrong. All internal rings can be sourced pretty much anywhere. The tube can be sourced separately if you plan on using this thing a lot and it wears out. I would imagine I’ll get 15 years out of it and buy something new and shiny. So, if you can stand the price, go for it. You won’t regret it, it’s a nice solid pump, tiny footprint, and works well.
