Working on a lot of very old car parts, I repair a lot of damaged threads. In most cases, I think that Time-Serts are much better than the helical coil thread repairs. Also they are more forgiving for DIYers who are using hand drills and might not get perfect threads tapped. The locking mechanism on Time-Serts is quite good at stopping the insert from backing out.
