I used this kit to repair a big X cross tear on leather car seat. The repair looks strong to withhold regular usage. The difficult part is color matching. The kit provides ten colors to mix and match but it is still really hard to my sand color car seats.

I hated to buy this big kit for the tiniest of projects, but I bought a new Kate Spade purse with a knick in the leather handle (at least I got a discount on it) and my eyes went right to that flaw. It was easy enough to mix the yellow with white and cream and cover it. I might try to bug it out and blend it a little more but I’m waiting to make sure it doesn’t do that naturally after a few uses. I’m sure I’ll be able to use the kit again for something else someday!

This is a functional little kit that repaired a large thumb sized burn hole in a garage sale find. I wish I took better before photos, but the previous owners simply glued the burn hole closed creating an unsightly fold in the front of the chair. I picked up this kit to try to repair the “fix.” I cut away the the charred bits, glued in some backing fabric with e6000 to span the hole along with a cutaway patch from underneath, then went to work trying to match the color with this kit. It took a few tries, but each attempt helped to fill in the crevice between the hole’s edges got closer and closer to the final color (it takes several layers to fill voids anyway so use it as practice. Mix more than you need and store it in the little container, then after the shade shift during drying, you can estimate the needed white to counter the drying changes along with any hue mismatching. If you have enough for a few attempts, you’ll get it before you run out and have to try and hue match all over again. While testing the durability of the fix, it wanted to separate along that crevice, so I used some additional e6000 to add a stronger bond along that seam. Then, as I got better at color matching, painted over the e6000 and previous layers to create a convincing repair. The damaged area doesn’t jump out anymore, and blends in very well. Catching the light is the only way the patch jumps out now. The sheen is slightly different. This kit helped turn a $50 garage sale find into a nice recliner for a damaged spot in a very obvious area. I wish the kit included ways to match the texture better, but I couldn’t find a kit that included anything for that. I thought these kinds of kits came with texture patches from previous experience to help with that. Anyway, this kit and some e6000 is a great combo to repair a hole in a nice leather piece of furniture. The paint (think of this kit as filler paint) isn’t strong enough in my opinion to hold a patch, use something stronger for that part. Then use this kit to cover it and blend it all together.

This is a good kit .. you just need to take your time when using it. Slow and easy gets best results. When mixing for proper shade add smaller quantity of secondary color to get it right. Can only stress take your time, add layers and allow cure time inbetween.

This has put a quite good finish on the arms of a leather chair that were extremely cracked and worn. The picture shows it’s not perfect but you didn’t see what a mess it was before, I also didn’t do a very good match on the colour. I don’t know how long it will last but it was easy to use and there’s plenty of it so I can put another layer on in 6 months or a year. It really looked so worn that I always kept the arms covered now, unless you look close it looks like new. There was also a tear in the leather an inch long and although you can still the mark the edges are now firmly stuck together so won’t get worse. It was easy to use and not expensive.
