Great for me and my kid to make our own maple syrup. We've enjoyed this so much we expanded from this kit.

My husband and I have a few maple trees on our property and wanted to try out making maple syrup. This kit was perfect for us! It has great instructions and everything you need, except the drill, to get started. If you are thinking about sugaring, but you aren't sure if you want to go all in, this is a great starter kit!

This is a great starter kit, but beware: this is addicting!First and foremost, what you should know about this kit is that the spiles (the things that you put into the trees) are not ideal if you’re going to continue this with other equipment going forward. Most spiles are 5/16 these days.You’ll learn everything as you continue this hobby.I got this for my husband for Christmas and we’ve already made some delicious Vermont maple syrup. It’s a lot of work but big reward for sure.I’m afraid I’ve created a monster, though, because my husband has already gone out and bought a side-by-side to collect next year’s sap and we are building a maple sugar house and getting an evaporator and everything else that goes with maple syrup making!Quite the expensive hobby!!

Easy enough read and do. I just tapped 5 trees and when sap started flowing the buckets were almost full daily . Waite no more than 48 hours before boiling down .If you get warm weather you might ruin you sap. I worked in 5 gallon batches then through the sixth gallon in and boiled down outside until I got to 1/4 of the way down . This is easy. Just boil for hours . The darker the sweeter. And if you do part over a wood fire you get a smoky flavor as well. Awesome!

Easy to use and love the book it comes with. 1st time doing this and had a blast and got delicious syrup.

Shortly after moving into our house we found we had two full & heathy sugar maples in our back yard and being a big DIY family figured why not make our own maple syrup! So after a little research I found this wonderful kit that comes with everything to get started for a reasonable price. Great sturdy buckets, lids & spiles on top of We are anti-plastic so finding this aluminum set was a bonus.Orginally purchased in the fall and Now that we are finishing the last of our first sap flow, I can honestly say it's well worth the investment. With only two trees we made about 2 gallons of syrup which blew my mind! Ended up purchasing a outdoor turkey fryer type burner because of the large amount of sap we had to boil down, I was a little overwhelmed but very pleased with the harvest.In the end I highly recommend this kit and suggest a few other things, maple specific filters(we used giant coffe filters this season but will be upgrading to make it easier next time) 5-10 gallons of storage for the sap because trust me you'll need it, we use a 5 gallon carboy which was used constantly but will be getting a second one for next season, and bottles for the finished syrup....it comes fast so have enough ready!

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas so he could try his hand at maple sugaring.....to say the least it was the best Christmas present ever and very well received! He was so excited as was I to find this kit so complete and well thought out for beginners. All your questions will be answered with the enclosed book and I look forward to using this come later this winter/early spring. Thank you for making such a great kit!
