Not even close to 54 inches. Measures 50 inches tip-of-clip-to-tip-of-clip, at maximum length.

Previously ordered this Maxpedition strap (black) and needed another one for a hold-all. The straps are well made and broad. Also ordered the Maxpedition shoulder pad (black) to go with the strap. They were sent by Military 1st, who sent the items well ahead of the predicted arrival date. Always happy to place an order with them. I had a problem with a different item and they’ve always been incredibly helpful and prompt. Well done Military 1st!

Nothing especially unusual or significant about it, not even very "tactical" really. I just bought it because Maxpedition was too CHEAP to include one with the butt-pack I bought for way-too-much-over-a-hundred bucks. I wanna meet the "Operator" who's life depends on a fanny pack...

Got it to go with the 2" shoulder pad to replace an old worn laptop bag strap. The only disappointment was that it has kind of flimsy seeming plastic hooks (the original strap had metal hooks). I've been using them for several months and even though they are plastic rubbing on metal, I don't see much noticeable wear so they seem to be doing the job ok, just would have preferred an option with metal hooks.

Bought this to replace the standard strap from my Maxpedition bag. This has made the bag much more comfortable and easier to keep the strap untwisted. My only regret is that it took me a year to finally replace the factory strap!

Good sturdy strap. The weave is strong and tight so it doesn't feel like the strap will be coming apart anytime soon with some vigorous use.I just wish the clasps were metal instead of plastic. Makes me wonder if or when it'll break over time with constant use when carrying around a bag with a laptop in it everyday.

Put this on my roll bag, hung it around my shoulder and hit the freeway on the motorcycle at high speeds. It held up without a hitch, no problems, and it's still going strong. Never had a Maxpedition product I did not like, including this one. Highly recommend.
