i normally but aftermarket parts. last year a show repaired the part for me. transmission shifted fine for about several months. then erratic shifting, the lights going off and the car going into limp mode randomly.this part solved the issue. shame on mazda for this blunder... in any case you dont want to deal with this again.. get the OEM part on this repair..

My wife’s 2010 Mazda 3 original neutral safety switch went bad and I replaced it with four different aftermarket brands (Dorman, etc) and after a few months the Drive “D” light would flicker and the transmission would shift into Neutral and revv up. Not safe! I didn’t want to go to a dealership and I finally found this Mazda OEM neutral safety switch. The Drive light flicker issue stopped. No issues since I installed it. To prevent frustration, get this OEM neutral safety switch.

Went through 2 aftermarket (Dorman) switches before going with this Mazda OEM switch. After a short time, the Dorman switches caused the "D" (drive) light on my dash to go off intermittently. This would cause the transmission to hesitate. I could clear it on the fly by shifting into neutral and back into drive but problem would always come back. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra money and get the OEM part for this repair.

This part is the real OEM replacement part. The original was malfunctioning. First, I did buy the replacement from the autoparts store, it failed when reverse gear was selected. It would go out of gear when the reverse light was blinking. This part cured the starting problems I was having with the original as well as the replacement part.
