Looked at several different website to try and find this part. Hubs (who is a mechanic) landed on this one and it worked perfectly!

Excellent service, product arrived a day early! Item is exactly as described and not too terribly hard to install. One thing worth noting, once installed, if you can't fill the new oil tank entirely with oil, you will have to run the motor for a bit with the fill vent/cap on the new oil tank loosened or open. Be careful though, as the tank fills up surprisingly quick and could overflow. Thankfully, once topped off with oil, it fixed the low oil alarm I was getting on my '08 150 Mercury Optimax.

I acquired a new to me 2002 Crestliner & Mercury 150hp Optimax. I wanted to do any maintenance that I could do myself. I couldn’t see an oil level line in this reservoir, so I took the little thumb turn plastic cap off to inspect for oil. It was full of oil all the way to the very top, that’s why I couldn’t see a level line. I tightened it back up, unfortunately I must have over tightened with only my fingers and it would keep spinning. I tried turning to the point to where it was the tightest and started it up. This machine has pressurized oil injection and started to leak oil out of the reservoir. I tried a large O ring in hopes that would be a cheap, easy fix. Nope. New oil reservoir cap. Nada! So I did tons of reading and viewing of videos to determine if I was going to try and replace this part myself. The turning of bolts and hose clamps was easy. Removal of the lowers cowling is a challenge the first time around since I was fearful of braking anything. The nerve racking part is installing this new reservoir WITHOUT ANY AIR BUBBLES introduced into the oil system. This system SHOULD be bled and primed by a technician after replacing this part or any air introduction into the lines after the reservoir. Once you remove the reservoir, air can get into the clear line that feeds the oil pump. Failure could blow this engine up! Hmm. It’s almost the 4th of July and it’s weeks before a mechanic can take a look at it. So.. I thought long and hard on the gamble that I was going to try doing this myself with the hopes that no air would be in the line after installed. I recruited the help of my 12y old son so I could have extra hands to try my theory. I unbolted the reservoir, removed everything that I could with exception to the clear line that feeds the pump. I filled the new reservoir half way with new oil and had my son hold it close by with his finger over the hole. With the oil line pointed up, I quickly removed the old reservoir. My son then let new oil drip into the clear, upright line for a couple of seconds from the new reservoir and inserted the nipple into the clear line. I installed Mercury zip ties from the dealer to connect the hoses, reservoir, and new filter. I tapped on the clear hose and watched for any air bubbles. I couldn’t see any bubbles. It started up without any oil spilling out of the tiny thumb turn cap “after” I bled the reservoir. Yeah!!! (I have discovered the benefits of Full synthetic AMSOIL marine hp oil. Machines run better with less smoke, so I switched from the Mercury oil to the AMSOIL). New spark plugs. Time for a test ride. WOW. This engine now rips up the water with a cool 2 stroke Optimax GROWL. We successfully completed the replacement with this new reservoir that seems to be a little beefier in the female thread screw cap design. I don’t propose anyone take the risks that I did in replacing this reservoir with a flawed cap design. But this is how I did it. Good luck.

Tank worked great. The only thing was slow delivery. If you need it quickly probably cheaper to buy locally. Otherwise good buy.
