This warmer works perfectly. There's multiple heat settings that you can use. Buyer Beware: this product does use Japanese Voltage. Although similar to US, not exactly the same. As an amateur no nothing electrician, from what I understand, the Kotatsu will just run hotter because of the amount of US Volts. That is why I only keep it on the low settings, and it's plenty hot enough to enjoy. I don't think a converter is needed if you keep safe and use low settings. The item is simple, works, and is what I needed for DYI kotatsu. Also, if you have your own traditional frame, this will easily fit in the square to replace an old one.

I decided to turn my coffee table into a kotatsu, and bought this heater for the project. It was very easy to drill onto the bottom of my table. I left a 2 inch gap between the heater and the table, though it's probably not necessary to have that much space. During the winter I throw a comforter and a wood top over my coffee table and cozy up. During the summer, I simply unplug the cord and store it, you would never know the heater is there unless you're literally on the ground. The velvet coating is a nice touch as I occasionally brush my legs against it (and it never gets too hot!), and the wrapped cord feels to be made of quality. I live in the USA, so the electrical output is a little stronger than what they use in Japan. I didn't bother buying a converter, I just don't increase the heat past the first or second setting, and that's more than enough. I've had this since 2021, and it's still working great. Highly recommend!

I bought this to attach to a table I modified into a Kotatsu and hooked it up to the PowerBright 500 Watts Japanese Voltage Transformer, and it's worked fantastic! There was a shipping hiccup and they sent me a new one right away, and it was super easy to install. I use it all the time and this is the second year I've had it, no issues whatsoever! It gets very warm so I usually don't leave it at the highest heat setting, but I've never been unhappy with the temperature or amount of control; it heats up and cools off quickly when I adjust the remote. My table is about 3ftx4ft with a comforter and a tabletop that fits on top, and it heats up that space within 5-10 minutes even in winter. I'd definitely recommend this product!

Really great heater, and really easy to install. Even on the low setting, it is very warm. We don't use a converter, and just use it on the low settings. Seems to be working fine, although wish there was a US version of a mountable heater like this! A little pricey, but good quality.

Honestly, this has been the best investment. I DIY'd a Kotatsu with this heater using an IKEA Lak table, 4 L brackets, and a King sherpa blanket. I did not purchase a converter, however I do not use it on any setting higher than a 1 and I NEVER leave it running unsupervised. The instructions are in Japanese but there are pictures that make installation very easy. It has kept me super warm and has served me very well in the 2 months I've had it.

I made my own kotatsu by attaching this heater with angle brackets to a secondhand coffee table (with a square comforter and piece of butcher block for the top. It works well, and my kids (who haven't been to Japan and thought I was crazy) really enjoy sitting at it. You will want a step-up/step-down converter if your country's voltage is different from Japan's. I bought this one:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PC4SVU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Using this part was able to build a kotatsu at a affordable price. If you can read Japanese it comes with good documentation. When I first got this unit it seemed so small and simple compared to the old kotatsu from the 80s that I grew up with. But after using it I think that it’s great. Dispite it’s size it can heat the kotatsu very well. I rarely use it past the 弱 or weak setting. I’m in the US using with out the transformer and not having any issues. I don’t think that your going to have any issues unless you use it cranked up to the strongest setting for a prolonged period of time.

Works great, I love it, my cats seem to like it too, but there is a picture in the instructions with a cat and a big X, I'm just going to assume that means no un-supervised pet use, but if I'm there I'm not kicking the cats out, and I do unplug it when I'm not there.I am (in the USA) using a step-down transformer, which I think is a good idea, I imagine that if one was sure to avoid the highest settings it could work at US line voltage but I'd rather not take a chance. The controller has some mystery settings (various size circles) before one gets to the numbers, the numbers control the heat like one would expect, but on the circles the heat seem to be off but the fan is on, I could understand a cool down mode but why more than one? No English at all in the instructions, but except for those setting it is self explanatory.
