It does tell you what is and is not working. Does not seem to want to stay in the 7 way socket on the vehicle so you have to hold it in while testing the circuits. Also, the tiny green LED lights are not all that bright considering they have 12 volts being put into them. But, it will do the job.

Plugged into my 7 pin to verify all is well. At first backup lights and electric brake were coming in, unplugged and plugged back in, wiggles some and now backup lights are confirmed. Brought out 10 year old test light and confirmed brake controller is working. Watched the light dim and brighten. Will be returning.

Just rewired a generator trailer and this helped to insure I had the wires all in the right place. Great backup when your buddy borrowed your trailer and complained the lites don’t work properly. Just plug this in and watch him back pedal. I am going to buy another for my work truck. And for those that said the display could not be seen. They need to turn their outlet 180 degs. That should be easy enough to do without messing with the wiring.

Bought a used truck and wanted to test the 7 pin plug. Worked fine.

Works instantly. Get a helper to sit in vehicle while you watch the led lights on the tester. Quick and easy.

Worked well for confirming operation of the 7-way plug on my vehicle as I was installing a brake controller. LEDs were pretty visible even in bright daylight and allowed me to quickly confirm everything was operating properly. My only complaint is I would like the LED end to rotate so I can view it from a different angle. My 7-way door is sideways, so the top of the door faces the driver side. This means I need to squat down to view the LEDs. If it rotated 180 degrees, that would allow for turning it up at a 45 degree angle, so I could just walk around and see at a glance which pins were triggered instead of having to squat down to look at it straight-on.

This is a simple tool that works much easier than using a meter to check trailer connections. Lights are bright enough to see during daylight. Markings for what each light is used for is clear.
