I bought this torch because I was desperate to have a little torch but wasn’t willing to pay the higher price for one from Rio or other jewlery suppliers. Horrible mistake. This torch preformed fine for a while (albeit hard to control the flame) but after a couple months of use it had some quality issues that were genuinely dangerous: the spring in the knobs are too tight so controlling the flame was very difficult for one, but the main concern is that the torch leaks from various places. The hoses aren’t machined well enough to fit onto a regulator properly AND a leak started from the top of the torch near the head which ended up causing a flame to start inside the handle. It was too hot to touch and seems as though the flame continued down the hose. Luckily I caught the issue before it could become disastrous, but it very well could have blown my tanks. On top of those other two concerns, the tips are ALSO not machined properly and on two occasions flames came out of the tip to torch connection point.Bottom line for me is that saving $130 isn’t worth the risk. I anted up for a little torch from a reputable source and I recommend doing the same. Stay safe.

This item is a cheap knockoff of a Smith Little Torch. Not only is it poorly made and assembled it is dangerous. I bought this quite a while ago, but never used it. Recently, I tried to use it, but it just didn’t seem to work properly. The flame was inconsistent, and I discovered that the oxygen regulator was faulty and leaked off all the oxygen. After I repaired the problem, I tried it again and this time the propane regulator caught on fire. I repaired that only to discover that the oxygen regulator leaked off another full tank of oxygen. I only got to use it briefly and can’t say that it worked as it should because the regulators suck. If the manufacture is at least a little bit reputable, they’ll replace this. At the very least they’ll stop selling them until they check them out and make them pass quality control because at this point they’re extremely dangerous. I have quite a bit of experience with different size torches Including small torches and this one just doesn’t measure up! Don’t buy it!!

The knobs are a little too tight making adjustments to the flame a bit difficult. I’m hoping they will loosen up in time. I may need to lubricant them somehow. Otherwise seems to work fine.

hoses were a bit frayed where they are crimped to the fittingsthe numbers on the tips were very difficult to read and some didn't seem to have any at all.I read one person complain the fittings or connectors (not sure of right term) were too small.... this is not a design flaw, you can't connect the torch directly to any tank, all micro torches I've seen need to be attached to the appropriate regulators.

I have used one of these low priced knockoffs of the smith for a while, bought some replacement heads, and this one was still disappointing. The orifices on the heads are rough, oddly shaped. Theyre thinner walled than ive had before. Where usually connections are at least brass, all is aluminum here.Seems to work at least.

Have had a Victor brand little torch for 30-40 years. Victor is a top quality brand for gas torches. This torch looks very similar to the Victor. Lighting this torch is identical. The weld quality of silicon bronze is at least equal to the Victor. I needed new hoses for the Victor but replacements were close to $100. So, I opted for this torch.Yes, I bought it for the hoses, but read on. I was going to remove the hoses from the new torch and put them on the Victor. I thought I would just try out the new torch, expecting a low quality product. I was surprised. It's as hot and controllable as the Victor.I was a professional sculptor for 35 years and, having owned my own bronze foundry, I have plenty of experience welding bronze, using gas and tig welders. I am retired now, and I'm presently finishing pieces from my limited editions for my children and theirs. There may be better tiny torches. I've never owned a Smith, but this torch is equal to my $200 (in 1985 dollars) torch and regulators. This is great for small work. I just finished welding fingers on a bronze hand 1/2 width. (They failed to cast during the lost-wax casting process) They are a small blob now, so I now need to carve them, but being able to make that blob a controlled blob takes some skill and a good torch. Larger pieces of bronze require more heat, so I have a standard sized Victor torch and an antique Hobart tig welder for bigger stuff (It was new when I bought it.). We have used the Victor little torch for soldering jump rings in jewelry making. This one looks to be just as good.I hope it lasts, but at this point I can't see a lot to go wrong with it. I'm very pleased. I'm keeping it.

Works good. Would have ordered other off brand that I got a yr ago for acetylene. Needed another for propane. Quality is not quite as good as the other one I got for around the same price (wasn't in my history). Anyways, would have given 5 stars if I had not ordered the other brand, for it does work great. Sorry, can't remember what the other brand was.
