Step 1
- Power off your iPhone. Remove the two Pentalobe screws, located at the bottom of the iPhone, next to the lightning connector.
Step 2
- Use a Heat Gun or Hair Dryer, to apply mild heat to the lower edge of the iPhone, for approx. one minute.
Step 3
- Apply a suction cup to the lower left corner of the display assembly.
- Pull up on the suction cup with firm, constant pressure, to create a slight gap between the front panel and rear case.
- Place the flat edge of a spudger into the gap between the screen and rear case, directly above the headphone jack, and twist the spudger to widen the gap.
- Slide the spudger up the side of the phone to separate the adhesive and free the clips
Step 4
- Use the suction cup to open the display, breaking the last of the adhesive. Open the iPhone like a book. The front panel is still connected to the back case on the left side of the phone.
- CAUTION: Do not open the display further than 90º, as it is still connected at the top by three cables that may break if stretched too far.
Step 5
- Remove Phillips screws securing the Battery Connector Bracket.
- Remove the Bracket.
Step 6
- Use the point of a spudger to disconnect the Battery Connector by prying it straight up from the logic board.
Step 7
- Disconnect the Front Camera Flex Cable.
- Disconnect the Digitizer Flex Cable.
- Disconnect the Display Cable.
Step 8
- Remove the Phillips screws securing the bracket over the front panel sensor assembly connector.
- Remove the bracket.
Step 9
- Disconnect the front panel sensor assembly connector from its socket on the logic board.
Step 10
- Remove the front panel.
Step 11
- Remove the Y000 screws securing the Bracket over the Home/Touch ID Button.
Step 12
- Remove the Bracket.
Step 13
- Pry with a spudger underneath the left edge of the Home Button cable connector to disconnect it from its socket.
Step 14
- Carefully pry up the underlying connector and move it out of the way of the Home Button Cable.
Step 15
- Use a opening pick to gently separate the adhesive holding the Home Button Cable to the back side of the display panel.
Step 16
- Remove the Home Button.
- Congratulations! You have now successfully removed your Home Button!
- To reinstall the iPhone, use the previous steps in this manual and apply them backwards.

I was so excited to replace my daughter's case, battery, screen and home button and get her phone looking all brand new and then I found out this does absolutely nothing. Like I knew the touch wouldn't work but I thought the button would still work as a home button. Why does it have the connection ribbon if it does nothing?

This home button does not replace the original as the original is paired with the phone at the factory. If you are replacing your screen DO NOT DAMAGE YOUR ORIGINAL HOME BUTTON AT REMOVAL!!! The unit is for cosmetic purposes only and will never work in an iPhone at all!

Important! By replacing the home button assembly, you will permanently lose the Fingerprint Touch ID function. Basically this item is for decoration only, touch ID and click function will not work. The Touch ID functionality will NOT work and cannot be restored because it is unique pairing with each device. For security reason, only the original home button touch sensor will work for your phone.

I mean if you read the descriptions, they are clear that it’s just a prop and the button don’t function.
