I have been using this for about a year near my sump and it's been absolutely perfect: every time I test it (every couple of months) it sends notification to my phone. Simple setup. Thank you for providing such an inexpensive and useful device!

I have this device in my basement for the sump pump. Its a ways away from my router and still receives a signal just fine. The device itself beeps as well as sends a notification to your device. It has already saved my basement from a flood twice... I would recommend this to anyone. App setup was slightly more challenging than I preferred... but I got through it.

I tested 2 devices:1. No alert when batteries are removed for hours. APP shows 100% battery.2. No alert when sensor operates at half voltage. APP shows 100% battery. Sensor connects to network but does not respond to water.3. No indication that device is offline and not working after batteries were removed, or at half voltage.4. No network status to indicate device is offline. Sensor appears to be online when it is not.5. Alerts Did Work. Devices detected water and sent alerts to phone when phone was NOT connected to wifi network. Had to uninstall and reinstall the APP.I was preparing to return the devices but in my research, i could not find one that appears any better. Will test on a regular basis.

I thought this product and price were too good to be true. It sort of is. This is a great price if you know what you're buying. This is a leak sensor (on an external probe - which is awesome) with a wi-fi component that will send an alert to an app on your mobile device. There is NO cloud service involved - which means if a leak is detected and your mobile device isn't on the same wi-fi network as the leak sensor, YOU WILL NOT GET AN ALERT. In other words, don't expect alerts when your away from home.I purchased this as a low cost way of getting an alert when my sump pump would go off. The idea was to put the sensor deep enough into the sump pit so that the leak sensor would trigger before the sump pump would go off to empty the pit. I think the concept will work fine except I realized I'll only get alerts when I'm home. Also, the device doesn't like the way I want to use it. It freaks out when it's in contact with water for more than a moment. The device will start beeping repeatedly - even after the contacts are dry. I have to remove and replace the batteries to reset the device. I'm okay with all this given the way I want to use it - I actually like that it will require attention in case I'm not home when the sump pump runs. This way I know for sure that there was water in the pit.Just be an educated buyer - these quirks work for me but may not for you. And for $15, I am willing to work around the device's limitations. :)

This leak detector works great and is easy to set up. I read reviews here that said people were having trouble setting this up because their router was a 5 GHz router. It is true, this device only works on 2.4 GHz.I have an Eero set up. My eero works on both 2.4 AND 5 GHz. You can set this device up if you have an eero. Here is how you do it:1. Go to your eero app settings.2. Near the bottom you will see “troubleshooting. “ Press on troubleshooting.3. At the top of troubleshooting you will see, “my device won’t connect. “ Press this.4. Now you will see, “my device is 2.4 GHz only. “. Press this.5. At the bottom you will see a blue tab that says “temporarily pause 5 GHz.” Press this. You can now easily install your Mobi devices. When you are finished installing them, go back and press “cancel.” If you forget to press cancel, don’t worry, it is on a 15 minute timer, and at the end of 15 minutes your eero will revert back to both 2.4 and 5 GHz.I only have the Mobi water/leak detectors, but I assume this will work on all Mobi products, if you have an Eero. Hope this helps.

The unit will only work on a 2.4GHz WiFi network. My network uses one SSID and auto-senses and uses the best network (2.4 or 5 GHz) based on the distance from the router and the device. The sensor would not configure in this config. I had to create a separate 2.4GHz network and connect my iPhone to this network to see and configure the sensor. After configuring the sensor I was able to move my phone back to my normal network. The sensor does send alerts to my phone in this config.

What is most amazing about this sensor is the high quality for the price. Almost unhead of to get a WiFi sensor of any kind under $10. No hub is needed - just a decent wifi signal; not even a great signal is needed to connect - just decent. Also, very easy to set up with the MOBI app.So; for 10 bucks you get a hub less sensor that will connect easily to even to a weak wifi signal, has a great app to work with, and gives you the piece of mind to catch that hot water tank leak before it destroys your house. Kinda no brainer.
