After some disappointment with other brands, I've been sticking to Moen when I can afford it. The extra cost generally means more durable materials, better styles, and better installation methods. That is the case with this towel ring as well, at least in the Chrome finish. The ring and base are both thick metal, and the hinge has a plastic mechanism inside to keep the metal from rubbing during movement. The loop can swing all the way up, but doesn't move past the point where it is perpendicular to the wall without a little force.Installation is as heavy duty as you want it to be. A heavy metal bracket (picture attached) is included, which could be attached to a stud for more stability or with the included drywall style screws. A hidden set screw attaches the ring to the bracket, similar to shower handles with no visible hardware. It is a good combination of style and function.I can't say that you should spend a fortune on a towel ring, but it is nice to buy items like this periodically to keep forever. If you like the Weymouth style, I highly recommend it.
