When my factory keyboard quit working I needed to find something quick and this came up with some good reviews. I'm always very happy when I find something that is Affordable and effective at the same time. This is high quality and holds a charge for quite some time. It's also very responsive with the touchpad and typing on it was quick to get comfortable too. I like the response of the keys.

Perfect. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything and I’m glad I saved the money over the Microsoft one. 😇 Very happy.- Love that I can use it detached from the surface pro- Also can use it attached- When attached and closed, acts like a screen protector- Battery life is great

I bought this keyboard for my Surface Pro 3 as a cheap substitute. I liked that it connects magnetically on the surface pro 3 easy and can be adjusted. It's very comfortable when I type as well. The only issue I have with this is the trackpad, which is really hard to use. It's very annoying when you try to click a link, then the pointer would end up on a different side of the page and click a different link. Also, with the slightest touch, it would also zoom my internet browser from 80% to 150% zoomed in.I just started using this keyboard yesterday, and I will try it out for a week. If the trackpad continues to bother me, then I will return this product.UPDATE MARCH 29 2017It was great when it lasted. Keyboard no longer works and is unable to charge. Keyboard charging light shows it's green and fully charged, then when I turn it on the light then go yellow, then red shuts off. I will be returning this product.

I was initially very excited to receive this product, however once I used it for a bit, I came to the conclusion that I need backlighting far less frequently than I expected I would, hence I probably should have gotten the first-party keyboard instead, as that one is able to charge by being attached to the Surface, whereas this one must be charged via micro USB.This keyboard "feels" cheaper than the Microsoft one, but generally feels suitably solid. Have not encountered battery life issues thus far. This keyboard seems to have a sleep/standby mode that it will enter by default, which will also turn off the backlight.Adjusting the backlight takes a couple tries, but eventually the key command becomes second nature. This only offers a low and high brightness which is all most users will need. It is not as adjustable as the backlight on a MacBook, but like I said, I have found that I don't even need the backlight as frequently as I thought I would - I'm just used to seeing it on my previous MacBook Pro, where it would turn on under anything but the brightest lighting conditions. This keyboard offers several color options, some of which I found garish. I use the white or yellow color options, as they are fairly neutral and not very obtrusive when used in most public settings. If customization is a big motivation for you, then this is the best option on the market. As stated above, I do not like the fact that you must charge this via micro USB, and it won't charge when attached to the Surface, though I assume that only first-party peripherals do that. I feel like the micro USB charging port may be a point of failure in the future.Overall, for my uses, the very small price difference from the manufacturer keyboard, and my limited need for backlighting make my feelings toward this product fairly unenthusiastic, but the product description was very clear, hence this product was as expected.

This review contains my initial impressions. I'm going to update in a few months once I've had a chance to get used to some of the differences between it and my previous keyboard. The good:- The keys have a nice, soft rubber feel to them, and the action is fine.- The keys are a narrower than my previous keyboard, meaning they scrunched them a bit to make them fit with a row of F keys along the top. But they also put a fair amount of space between keys so I haven't had any trouble adjusting.- I like my keyboard raised and tilted, and when I folded the top of the keyboard under itself the raised keyboard has a solid feel.- Obviously the backlit keys is a neat feature but I haven't used it yet and I'm in a well-lit shop. I'll update this later.- It comes with a simple manual which is nice because it clearly explains the touchpad gestures and backlit feature. The (not so) bad:- The biggest issue is the touchpad: the left and right button clicks _are_ on this touchpad but the touchpad is a single plain black surface - no buttons and no lines or anything to tell the user where to click.- So it took me a bit, while trying out the touchpad gestures, to realize the why my gestures were inconsistent: sometimes I was pressing the "left" or "right" click areas, sometimes not.

I love this so much better than the official type cover! Not that I'm stingy or anything (I bought both) I just find this one way better. I like it better mostly because it's Bluetooth so I don't need to have it attached to my Surface, but the gimmicky backlight that can change colors is pretty cool too. I do admit that the trackpad is a little smaller and a lot cheaper feeling than that of the new Surface Pro 4 type cover, but that's to be expected from a $90 price difference. I haven't had any problems with the trackpad other than it feeling a whole lot less "premium." So if you care about funcionality, aesthetics, and price more than feeling like a rich boss with a premium product, you'll love this keyboard.
