Admittedly, I haven't used this yet. My 890 engine overhaul is coming up in the Spring, and the pin to test this on is currently holding a piston deep inside of a big lump of aluminum. But, this said, what we have here is a much better solution than the wooden dowel I've used in the past. The tool is well-made, and has collets in various sizes to drive different pistons out. The body of the tool (handle) has a curve that helps keep it centered on the side of the piston while you drive the pin out. Finish is a combo of black oxide and anodized body. All considered, it's a pretty nicely made tool. I might prefer to have a slightly tighter tolerance in the threaded shaft, but that's a minor concern. It will absolutely work as designed, and frankly way better than the shade-tree approach I've used previously. It's a good value, especially for those of us that only rebuild an engine every once and a while.

Nice little setup. Note- reversed thread pin drifts are stacked on. Obviously used for floating pins. Note2 NOT a slide hammer. Pretty cool though. Just used to install some MAP pistons on my Triumph 650 build. Snap rings still suck... but this works a treat on the pins.

Had a few sticky wrist pins that came out easily with this tool, very well made.
