I have to cut them in half for my use. I am basically doing the same thing that is shown in the listing's pictures. I am using plastic tactical ammo crates from harbor freight ($12 each). They are bigger than the 50Cal boxes. I can still get my leg over them without much trouble (I might bump/kick them after a long day of riding). I did have to clean the threads on all of the brackets, but it was mostly just me screwing and unscrewing the bolt a dozen times until it screwed in with little resistance. No special tools required if we do not count me cutting them in half or drilling holes into the boxes.

I got these to try a different mounting system. This works for what they were intended to do. I would say it works better than the other one that I tried. This was very easy to install. Had everything needed to do the install. Definitely would recommend this to others.

I have a 1999 Heritage soft tail. I took the leather bags off to put hard bags on. These don’t even do close to fitting. They are heavy duty. They would be great if they fit. They don’t. I might be a lot cut and bend them to work but it’s easier to make my own.

These brackets were a perfect fit. I cut off 2 inches on each one so they wouldn't hang down so far.I would buy again!
