This microphone was a surprising find! I haven't heard a ton about Movo products, so to find a microphone like this with a nice quality as well as built-in preamp with BOTH XLR & USB C compatibility, I was pretty skeptical. But this microphone absolutely delivered, once I got it honed in!

I've wanted to try the Movo VXR10 for some time since i've heard mostly good things about it. So i jumped at the change to try the UM6. Its design is similar to another popular microphone, with similar features. The windscreen is magnetic, so it pops into place. You can remove it to achieve a brighter sound, I wasn't a fan of it on my voice. The microphone features, are only usable through USB, if you use XLR they will not be usable. There are LEDs to indicate when something is activated or deactivated, the volume slider will be red when muted and blue when not. I had no issues with the built in preamp or sound, the sound is similar across USB and XLR, with slightly higher fidelity while using XLR. The touch controls are pretty fiddly, with the highpass and headphone monitoring working fine, but the mute being a 4-5 press to activate/deactivate. That is arguably the most important feature when using a microphone like this. This did not get 5 stars because my unit came with cosmetic defects on the rubber coating around it and the touch controls being non-responsive. That was sorted with using XLR, but still should be something to consider when purchasing this. Otherwise I was very pleased with the sound and functionally of this microphone.

What I like:I'm pretty fussy when it comes to any audio gear. I'm an old timer and I've been heavily engaged with just about every aspect of audio-related stuff since a very young age. I used to run sound for local rock bands, dating back decades ago. I'm almost 60 years old and I've been doing my own custom car audio installs since about 1981 - 1982. I also have done my own custom speaker builds. I could just go on and on, but I digress. What's of greater importance is that I have a gifted ear and I know how what I'm listening to and what I'm listening for when critiquing various sounds within the full audio spectrum being reproduced.Anyway, when I received the package I figured I would maybe be disappointed, as despite doing my due diligence and research, I often receive audio gear which is just not very impressive as I'd hoped it would be. Well, when I opened the package and lifted the microphone out, quite frankly, I was blown-away! The beefy, hefty feel of this device just oozed with quality. I have no regrets in ordering this mic and I highly recommend the product. I order a lot of products in here and I can't say enough about this one. If the performance stays the course, this will definitely be among my top 10 favorite and most memorable product orders of 2024.The microphone looks professional and functions as such.The mic features great sensitivity and produces outstanding, full-bodied sound, yet also does a great job of canceling-out background chatter. For example, I can be speaking into the device (even from a comfortable distance), and my roommate can be doing dishes in the kitchen (the neighboring room with no door between rooms) and the mic will rarely ever capture any of her overtly-noisy and annoying activities.What I don't like:There's nothing I don't like about the product.I would absolutely order this item again.

This is such studio quality. Amazing fit for my boom set and looks so professional. Defiantly makes my set up look amazing and state of the art.

Whilst it's very well made and includes everything you could want it doesn't make up for the lack of chops when it comes to singing vocals. The sound lacks depth and is thin and reedy. I can only guess that the capsule isn't that large.I have only used it through the USB connection, so far. Maybe I need to try the alternative.
