I just tested it this morning and even though the bottom of my cup is not flat as per most recommendations, it still is keeping it nice and hot at the highest setting (167 F). I just turned it to the medium one (131 F) to see if that's the right level for me.The only reason for one star off is that it arrived clearly used. There were fingerprints and smudges all over the surfaces. Even if it was returned, you should at least clean it before sending to someone else.

I am an avid tea drinker and I hate lukewarm tea. With fall coming, I decided that I wanted to get something to keep my tea hot. This hot plate works really well. One thing I discovered is that, although they recommend using metal cups, they don’t work well at all. The bottom gets VERY hot (burned my hand) but the tea wasn’t very hot. I got the best red with a nice ceramic cup. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting hot beverages!

I love this item! It keeps my coffee warm all the way to the bottom of the cup. It also has 3 set temperatures that you can change with the touch of a finger for your personal preference. Additionally, there's an auto shut off feature which you can set for 1, 2, 3, or 4 minutes. Personally, I prefer to turn it off manually when I'm finished with it, so I can't vouch for the accuracy or consistency of the auto shut off feature. I purchased 2 of them, and later purchased 2 more as Christmas gifts.

Loved this. Worked great but after only 2 weeks only keeps coffee luke warm on highest setting. I'm sending it back.
