We bought this to replace a very old Angel Care monitor for checking on our 4-year-old whose bedroom is on a different floor to us.Straight out of the box there was an issue: Somebody thought it would be a great idea for both units to have really loud start up and shut down 'jingle' music - all this actually achieves is more disturbance to either my partner or the kids! The parent unit does NOT run anywhere near 16 hours on a full charge - we charge it every day and it still often runs out of battery in less than 11 hours, so wakes us up to a loud foghorn blaring of a low battery alert :( We could keep it plugged in, but it emits a really nasty high pitched whine while charging! Also if the units need to be re-paired, the baby unit cannot be turned back on without a hideous jingle. I appreciate that knowing whether the units are on and connected is important, but this could be achieved with subtle LED lights!!When the monitor is triggered, it seems to stay in listening mode until the talk-back button is pressed, meaning it just plays static noise. Surely this should turn off on its own once there has been no sound for a given length of time??The 1000ft range is also an exaggeration, and even in a normal size house there are places where it will lose connection. There are too many poorly implemented extra features and accidentally pressing the wrong button activates some really grating ‘lullaby’ music in your child’s bedroom, which inevitably wakes them up. The voice sound quality is ok (if I'm being generous) but the playback quality of the lullabies is truly terrible. To give a couple of small positives, the two-way communication is pretty useful and the Auto VOX means that the monitor doesn't alert us every time the neighbours close a door or a bus drives past. So, feel free to buy this utter piece of trash if you like the following:- being woken up to a loud low battery alert, even though your child has slept through!- Loud jangly musical tones whenever you turn it on and off.- Accidental lullabies that sound terrible and are more likely to wake the child than sooth them.- Continuous static noise when the listening function switches on which won’t go off until you press the button. After three months of trying with this we're throwing it away as e-waste as soon as we source a better replacement!

So I'm a little confused. The box shows pictures of it in use not plugged in (baby unit) yet is requires it to be plugged it. At first I thought I'd bought the wrong one but the images on the box definitely show the light on with it unplugged.
