The NP99sp battery I received is supposed to hold more of a charge than the original.According to my Garmin GPS, the battery never fully charges. It's been changing for two days and the battery icon only shows about 3/4 full, does not go to 100%.The original battery in the GPS was only charging up to 1/4 full and rapidly went flat.I was hoping this battery would charge up closer to 100%, and it's not a complete failure, but the price is pretty high for what I got.Update: I have changed the rating I gave this product before to 5 stars, as the company understood the problem I was having with their product and promptly solved it.Kudos to NewPower99 for standing behind their product and customers!

I got this battery to replace the one in my Garmin Drive 60LMT, which wouldn't hold a charge very long. This battery fit, but it doesn't hold a charge long either. So I would suggest you look elsewhere.

This kit includes TWO magnetic tipped tork screwdrivers, a pry tool, and a DVD with instructions. Fortunately I was someplace where there was a DVD player, I watched the video and then set to work. 12 minutes later the Garmin was buttoned up and I am charging it for two more hours even though the battery was delivered 75% charged.You can buy just the battery cheaper, but if this is the only Garmin that you are repairing (versus a repair shop who might do 10 of them), then this kit is a bargain. There is an online version of the video available if you do not have a DVD player.The kit is well done, good quality.I would have NO problem buying any product from "NewPower99" after using this.Highly recommended.(ww)

Installing the Replacement Battery in my Garmin 60 was easy. Unfortunately, the battery didn't last a day!New battery came up 'low battery' on the display... no surprise, so I charged the GPS for a couple of hours.After charging, the GPS wouldn't turn on at all, even when plugged in!I removed the 'NEW' battery and reinstalled the old battery and the GPS worked fine! I returned the entire 'battery kit' .... what a waste of time!

I bought this to replace the battery in my 7 year old Garmin Drive 60. There were some cheaper options out there, but based on the reviews on Amazon and other places, this seemed to be the best option. And I agree with those reviews! The kit has everything you need to swap out the battery, except for one item - a new piece of adhesive plastic to keep the battery secure in the Garmin! I was able to use the one from the original battery by peeling it off and placing it on the new battery. But it isn't as secure as I'd prefer it would be.One other issue, although not a real problem, is that the battery is slightly longer than the factory battery. It just barely fits into the space inside the Garmin, and makes it a little difficult to get the wires to cooperate! Once you have it in place it does go back together easily.Something that might be confusing to some people is that the kit came with two Torx drivers - a T4 and a T5. I found no use for the T4 in my unit. All the screws were T5. Use caution when working on your unit, as using a T4 driver on a T5 screw could cause it to strip and become damaged.Overall this is a great kit, and I would definitely buy one again!

My 6 year old Garmin DriveSmart 60LMT battery wasn’t holding a charge so I purchased a battery for a Garmin Drive 60LMT (close enough spec wise). Connection to the board was so loose that by the time I reassembled it, the connector was no longer making contact. Got a replacement battery but the connector had the same loose fit. Now I am past the eligible return date so I will just call it a $50 educational experience. The folks at Garmin support claims that their batteries cannot be replaced (duh!) and couldn’t tell me why a battery was required in the first place … other than to be able to add an address using battery power. Given that a dead battery doesn’t affect the GPS memory and Garmin always recommends running your GPS off power from your car, maybe Garmin needs to think about using some easier to access and install disk batteries.

The torx screwdriver for installation was made from a soft material that rounded out after removing 2 screws. Had to scramble to remove the last 2 screws. Better tool= better installation= better review.

To change the battery on my Garmin Drive 60 was very easy peasy with the instructions, Only thing is that you have to keep a little downward pressure on the little screwdriver if not you could round off the corners of it because it's very soft metal. Also there is 2 sided tape on the battery so it will be a little tough to remove but you don't need the tape on the new battery

The way Garmin designed the attachment of the battery proves that manufacturers go out of their way to make repairs hard. The DVD that comes w/ the kit has VOB files NOT mp4 files, so the video MUST be converted before it can be viewed.
