Definitely work better and last longer than the ones I got from the big box store. Those would break almost immediately. Haven’t broken one of these yet.

Well, I only got two packs, not the two six-packs as ordered. Amazon fixed the issue. I got a refund, and word was sent to fulfillment to correct the problem for the future. These are really, really sharp blades. They cut fast and cleanly. I have noticed that I have to slow my scroll speed down to maintain control. However, I am returning to scrolling, after several years away, and I'm sure I will get used to them soon. They do last much longer than the regular Olson blades and these are said to be comparable to the Flying Dutchman brand. They are well worth the extra few dollars. Especially when you can (hopefully) get the six-pack now.

See my review of the #7 blades. The #5's are for tighter radius, finer detail work. I have no trouble with these blades in 1" walnut. I just do not push them as hard as the #7's. Initially, i used spiral cut scroll saw blades for extremely fine detail work, but I have learned that I can do even better work with the #5. It takes practice but the output is well worth the efforts. Great blades, wish I could buy by the gross.

I rate these blades a 5/5 because:1. They are very sharp. Usually, I can hold the blade at the teeth to guide the blade through a pilot hole for an inside cut. While holding this blade, I cut my thumb. Even though ever so slightly, it was the first time I have cut my thumb (at least in this fashion) after over twenty years scrolling.2. They cut very fast for a #5. I have cut 3/4" pine and basswood with these blades without the dragging that I have experienced with other blades.3. There is very little fuzz at the bottom of the work, I suspect the few reverse teeth help with that.4. The cut is very smooth as would be expected with a #5 and this blade does not fall short here either.5. Longevity. This blade lasts through an entire project without having to be replaced.I have used Flying Dutchman blades that are supposed to be the best... Lets just say, I have had very poor results with the Flying Dutchman blades in every category listed above. I am back to buy more Olson brand in other sizes.
