I only use Oregon saw chain and I keep at least 2 loops on hand at all times so when one gets dull, I'll change it out for a new loop (and flip the bar at the same time). I machine grind all my saw chains so the dull one gets dressed and becomes the spare. Always good to run a sharp chain, makes life much easier and makes it easier on the saw as well.

I recently used my Honda Versattach SSPP pole saw for 'not its intended use' and hit a nail that near instantly dulled the chain. Knowing that I don't have the time, patience, or skills to buy and properly use a sharpening kit - I set out to find a replacement chain.I was confident that I could Google a replacement chain but my search returned nothing useful. I then went to the owner's manual looking for a Honda-created part number - nothing. Closer inspection revealed no markings on the bar to indicate the replacement chain (common on some chain saws). I removed the chain from the bar and found "Diatop N1".Having never had to purchase a chain for a saw prior to this - I Googled what I found and then learned I needed to know the pitch, gauge, and number of links to get the right replacement chain. Yay, homework. Ugh, I'm too old for this and the internet was supposed to eliminate this, right?I took my homework assignment and got to it - and found this Oregon chain. I received it today and it fits perfectly.Hopefully, this will save someone else from having to do all of the work to replace the chain on their Honda Versattach SSPP pole saw.
