Catnip is a member of the mint family and is a popular herb used both alone as a tea or tincture or added to relaxing herbal blends. The perennial has a square stem, grayish-green leaves and fragrant pink flowers. Catnip is native to the Mediterranean, Asia and Africa. It was introduced to North America by European settlers and can now be found in many gardens across the United States.

I'm so glad Positively Botanicals produced this Organic Catnip into Loose Leaf tea. It's not ground down into a powder where it flows through the mesh of the tea strainer. Catnip has so many great benefits for humans, including children...unlike Skullcap that can't be given to children. Catnip can be given to the whole family. Where Skullcap is a nervine herb that predominately works with the nervous system to reduce stress/anxiety, calm nerves, and aid in sleep...Catnip does all that plus aids in digestion, helps with menstrual cramps, has anti-inflammatory properties, reduces mood swings, relieves some stomach problems. It's really an all-around amazing medicinal herb. Since this is made into a loose-leaf tea, it would be ideal to add to chamomile and mint for a bedtime tea for the whole family. I highly recommend this brand. I am not a medical doctor. I am an herbalist. If you have any questions about any herbs and how they may affect you or mix with your current medications, you should speak with your medical provider before adding any medicinal herbs to your diet.
