I liked the idea of this kit, but I don't love the execution. At first it seems great. It's like needlepoint meets cross stitch. The canvas is painted, so you have need to follow a separate grid. Really nice for a beginner. It comes with floss, needles, a threader, and some scissors. It's nice to have it all provided, but I'm really not sure there's enough black to cover the background for all 6 bookmarks. The scissors are not great. The enclosed directions are ok, but I think you'd be better off finding a YouTube video if you were new to cross stitch. I was taught to go left to right and then right to left across a line at a time, not in a square. It's nice that they included pictures of the bookmarks and which thread number goes with it, but I found that not all of them a. match the picture or b. make sense. There isn't a white floss, when certain things should be white, not beige.I haven't completed the one I'm working on yet and I'm getting a little worried about how the finishing is going to go. I will update my review when I get there.

Overall, this is a very nice kit. The instructions are good, and it comes with everything you need, including the stick-on felt backing to cover up your stitches when you are done. My biggest complaint is how very large these bookmarks are. I took a photo next to a ruler so you can get an idea of the length. I think this will be a fun project to do while watching TV, and I love the creative designs. So, I'm happy with this kit.Update: I'm so excited that I finished my first bookmark, so I'm updating with pictures and a tip. I did replace the black background with blue thread that I already had because I wanted a brighter, more colorful look. There are no instructions for how to finish the edges after you do the cross-stitch, so I ended up folding them over along the edge of the stitches and whip stitching them down. I cut a bit of the bulk off the corners so they lay a flatter. Then after I had the edges sewn down, I stuck the included sticky felt to the back over all of the stitching. Finally, I trimmed the excess felt off the edges. When finished, I recommend putting it under something heavy like a brick or book overnight to really press it together. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the felt backing stuck, and what a lovely and professional finish it gives.

Not sure how I feel about these. They have potential but are a bit large to me. The picture is one of them compared to my 32 oz water bottle. I’m sure the bigger they are the easier they are to do, but I’m skeptical if I’ll ever use them.

Patterns are really pretty and easy to follow. The printing on the fabric lines up great, unlike some other kits that I've tried. This one is actually usable! The one downside I can find is that I think I'm going to run out of black embroidery thread before I finish all of them. But that is a really easy fix. Other than that, it's a great kit for anyone looking for a simple small scale project.

This kit is great and the bookmark designs are gorgeous but i'm not even done with one bookmark and I've already run out of thread. Why should I have to spend even more money to complete this project when the kit is suppose to have everything I need.
