1.Size:3/8inch Chain With Retainer

About this item

  • (Pack of 2) Safety Chains with 3/8inch Clevis Snap Hook and Chain Retainers
  • Designed to connect from your trailer to your vehicle to help resist complete vehicle-trailer separation in the event of a disconnection while towing
  • Chain has a grade-70 rating and a minimum break force of 24,000 lbs. (two trailer safety chains advised; each safety chain must meet or exceed the gross trailer weight)
  • Constructed from high-strength steel links and is protected with a durable zinc plating to resist rust and corrosion in spite of the outdoor elements
  • When connecting safety chains for towing, two chains should be used. The safety chains should be crossed once underneath the coupler and hooked onto the trailer hitch receiver safety chain loops

Extremely heavy duty an overkill on my trailer but rather safe than sorry.

Welded these onto an 18k tri axle equipment trailer I picked up. These worked for me because I didn't want to try and put holes into the hitch plates. I used 6013 stick to weld because it's what I had at the time. Really stout chain and connecting brackets. Could definitely be used on any size trailer. Really convenient.

Arrived well packaged and all items seem to be good quality. The hooks and attachment ends are attached to the chains with removable clevis pins that will make maintaining them easy (but also makes them easy to steal). The 35” length could be an issue if your bed mounted hook points are to far forward, I’m using a Curt underbed gooseneck hitch with a 4” offset ball in a short bed truck and the chain length is just right.

These chains are overkill for my trailer but I have no worries. If needed they will more than do what I need them to do. I like it that way. I over build.

Great for my trailer to add chains

Chain retainer was good material easy to weld to trailer. This style will also allow to change out the chain at a later date from wear without ever doing grinding/welding again. The included grade 70 chain is also rated for some serious strength. Much better than the OEM junk that was on the trailer.

These are great safety chains. I installed them on one of my smaller trailers. No complaints. I haven't (tested) them to see if they will break. But I'm quite confident they will do the job. They have nice big safety hooks on the end. The finish on them has lasted over several months. Very happy them and the price was good. Recommended.

I am rebuilding a gooseneck trailer and needed new drag chains. These appear to be high quality and I am quite impressed. Mind you, I have not dropped the trailer to safety test them and plan to never do so (because that would be dumb :-) but I have bought other sets and they had cheap hooks. These are not cheap. I like the weld on mounts that come with these sets unlike the other ones I was getting that the mounts had to be purchased separately. Will be putting these in my stock
