Taking very delicate and physical vibration/shock sensitive components in a glass tube, and placing them in a plastic bag with ZERO protection other than the manufacture's paper sleeve/"boxes" is down right criminally STUPID.! I've seen FedX and UPS handle small lightweight bags and they assume the bag has a washcloth in it and the routinely TOSS THEM.- My equipment and time are valuable and with the prospects of these Tubes having been damaged by unprotected rough handling I haven't had the time to embark on what will likely be futile servicing of my AMP with Tubes that need to RETURNed. Tubes are very delicate and easily damaged - WHY AREN"T THEY BEING PACKAGED PROPERLY FOR SHIPPMENT??

I was looking for a little more head room on my Fender pro jr. That's exactly what I got. A little. That's okay, it's plenty loud and clean for me. The 5751 preamp tubes have slightly less output as 12 ax7's, so my amp still breaks up, but not as quickly. A good upgrade for a jazz player wanting tube sounds. Cheers!

Bought 2 sets. They calmed down a peavey classic mini20 that would sound like an angry bees nest with the gain shy of 4. Now I can push it to about 7.5-8 before it sounds like that. Gives me much more room for finesse on the knob and the dynamics are so good I can do the poor man’s channel switch (yes, the head has 2 channels, but I lost the foot switch and refuse to buy a second one just in case it shows up again) Bridge pickup all out for dirt, neck pickup rolled off for clean/cusp of breakup. Old tubes would need such a drastic roll off that the cleans would be way too quiet to be usable. Plus, when I do use the clean channel, it stays clean for until after 6 instead of about 4. The other set gave some mid range bark to my friends amp that always sounded scooped no matter what setting. He cuts through the mix better and it has less hum.

They say if a tube is going to fail it is going to fail within the first hour. This is my first experience with JJ tubes and I am disappointed in that two of the eight I ordered did just that. I bought an assortment of 12ax7s, 12ay7s, and 5751s to play around with tone and replace old tubes. I had one 12ay7 and one 5751 both bust within the first hour of play (they were in V3). Replacement tubes of the same variety fared well, so it was not a mismatch issue, just a quality control issue. Tubes that worked sound great, I just hate wasting $30 on poor products. Probably won’t buy JJ again in the future, just glad I did a lot of testing prior to gigging as this is for a gigging amp. Overall, great sound but an apparent crapshoot for quality, glad I ordered more than one of each, but I shouldn’t have to.

Bought these to tame a tweed champ and baseman. If you have an amp that is bright, these will help remove the “ice pick”.
