These have worked well to lock up my bike. Easy to use. Haven't had any problems yet.

The old adage goes you get what you pay for. I have known many people who have had their bikes stolen because they chose the cheapest or lightest weight locks. Not only is this lock robust and difficult to cut, it is easily mounted to any frame, and there are multiple mounting options available so you can use it across several bikes. Paired with a security cable for the front wheel, this has yet to let me down while others have come back to find their bike gone.

The Pentagon bicycle U-lock follows in the basic u-shaped design of most in the past. The shackle departs convention by using a triangular cross section to hamper bolt cutters with a more stronger 3-side geometry. The lock kit consists of a frame carrier for convenient transport. It's relative compact, but I am able to lock the frame and wheel together. I prefer to complement it with a thick chain to extend the capability. It's used to keep my e-bike for getting stolen. So far it has done so with its intimidating looks.

At a security level of 14/15 with a large opening, this is an excellent value for the price. It appears that the unique feature of this brand is the triangular cross-section of the bar. Contrary to claims, I am not convinced this makes it harder to cut than a spherical cross section -- but maybe it does.....I cannot afford to test the theory. But one thing it does is makes it a bit lighter! There is no lock that is full-proof. You can cut through any of them with an angle grinder. At a nearby college campus, a pair of thieves actually removed an entire bike rack -- bikes and all -- and put it in a pickup truck. If you live in a high-risk area, this lock is a minimum. I also replaced my wheels' quick release with locking nuts for my wheel hubs. Between these two I am comfortable leaving my bike locked up in front of a store, etc for a couple hours.

That's it, nothing to add. I can see a few attempts to cut through the lock but seems like it was unsuccessfu so far. Loving it. Probably order the medium one. It's quite heavy, especially the large one (the one I got). So don't trust them saying 'ultra lightweight' LOL, it weighs like a dumbbell.

My son kept riding his bike around and leaving it unlocked, even in some pretty public places. He was frustrated that I kept asking him to lock it up because it was too much work to unwrap the cable lock and then wrap it up again every time. I saw this Pentagon Bike U-Lock and thought it might be a better option for him.It is easy to carry this lock on your bike and it's easy to use it. Both fast to operate and with a very strong feel once locked, it is a good quality lock that I am not worried will give up easily if it is ever tested. It reminds me of the style I used when I was my son's age - so I think it will last a good, long time.

Upon unboxing the “Patented Heavy Duty Anti Theft Bicycle ULock,” I was immediately struck by its substantial yet surprisingly lightweight design, setting it apart in a market that typically equates heft with security. The packaging was minimalist and eco-friendly, focusing more on function than flash, which suits the pragmatic cyclist. The lock claims the title of the “Lightest Sold Secure Gold U Lock for its size,” which it lives up to. Its construction is robust, featuring double deadbolt locking that resists twist attacks—a critical vulnerability in many U-locks. This lock doesn’t include unnecessary accessories like chains or cables, which streamlines the design but also limits flexibility in locking scenarios. Its user-friendly aspect is in its simplicity; there are no complicated mechanisms or codes. The lock comes with keys, and there’s an optional mounting bracket, which, though sold separately, is something I’d recommend for convenience. The triangle-shaped crossbars are unique, purportedly adding to its strength and making it more resistant to leverage attacks. In performance, the U-lock excels. It holds up well against potential theft tools such as bolt cutters and drills, thanks to its anti-cut design and protective steel plates. The quality polymer casing that envelops the lock is another standout feature, ensuring that your bike remains scratch-free and maintaining the lock’s aesthetic and functional integrity over time. However, the absence of a flexible locking cable does restrict the lock’s utility slightly, particularly for those who need to secure both wheels and the frame. While the compact nature is excellent for portability, it may also limit the lock’s usability with larger, non-standard bike frames or those looking to secure their bike to a broader range of objects. In terms of value, this product offers excellent security for its price point, making it a strong contender in the premium lock segment, especially for urban cyclists who prioritize portability and robust anti-theft features. The positive aspects include its lightweight yet durable design, high security rating, and innovative triangular bar structure. On the downside, the lack of included flexible locking options and the need to purchase the mounting bracket separately could be seen as negatives.Overall, I would recommend this U-lock to urban cyclists and e-bike owners who prioritize security and portability over versatility. Its design and materials cater well to those needing reliable theft protection in high-risk areas, offering peace of mind with minimal added bulk.
