This license plate frame is made incredibly well and would improve the look of your car.

100% worth the money, writing this after someone backed into me while trying to parallel park. Hopped out, check the front of the car, check the rear of theirs, no damage whatsoever!

September 2023: BumpTek makes a range of PlatePockets in 5 graded thicknesses. I chose the middle thickness called "Street Edition" so the plate would have some protection but not so thick as to block an oblique view of my plate or collect dirt or snow. PlatePockets are made of very flexible rubber. Your plate slides in from the top. There is a thin sheet of rubber protecting the back of your plate and a thick open frame of rubber protecting the front. There are reinforced mounting holes matching the holes in your plate. This middle thickness (Street Edition) will provide a small amount of protection to your plate, but it is NOT a mounting frame. My new car, (a Subaru Forester), comes with no front plate mounting bracket whatsoever! As a result my dealer just drilled a couple holes in my beautiful new front fascia and slapped on a flimsy plastic frame with his name on it! Atrocious! It would probably tear off the 1st time thru a car wash. Too bad too, because my Subie is very well built in every other respect. I tried to buy a front plate bracket for my car, but none seems available. In its place I bought the PlatePocket, some red spacers (visible in side photo), some extra long screws, and drilled holes in my lower bumper too. At least now it is held on with 4 big screws in place of 2 small ones and has not come off in a car wash. Still, a hard hit with someone "parking by braille" would likely damage both my car fascia and bend the front plate a bit. Since the PlatePocket is so flexible and my bumper is just plastic, this will NOT provide any significant parking protection. This is not the fault of BumpTek. If PlatePocket was installed on a sturdy plate mounting bracket, it looks like it could provide some errant parking protection. In either case, PlatePocket will at least protect the plate somewhat. I like PlatePocket. I just wish I had a good bracket to mount it on. Retired in Sacto

Buy this. Yeah, I endorse it. I have now purchased two of them. One for the front of my wife's new VW Atlas and one for the front of my new BMW X5. The product is well made and you can tell some thought went into it. It is rubber exterior, maybe an inch thick, with (what I think is) an aluminum frame inside for a little rigidity and mounting ease. You slide your license plate inside. Also, it comes with a couple variety of screws for attachment to your bumper. In the case of the VW I had to remove the plate bracket and attach directly to bumper with self-piloting screws provided. Easy, but for the lower two screws I did drill two pilot holes for ease of install since there were no screw holes from factory. The upper screws found the already existing holes and drove themselves home. In the BMW, the exiting bracket was a perfect fit and I was able to use the machine screws provided instead of the self-piloting screws. Install time of the VW was 10 minutes or less. On the BMW it was 5 minutes or less. With all of that said I cannot say how much protection this will provide since I haven't hit anything with it (and don't plan on it) but it appears it wold be *perfect* for those times you pull into a space or garage too far and scrape your plate or front bumper. It stands out maybe an inch. Having bought it (the streamline edition) I suppose you could go a little thicker without being too silly looking, but if I had to do it again I'd still buy this version. You decide for yourself if you think you want the slightly thicker version.

Got this for my Honda Accord. The dealer only mounted my front license with two screws, used two of the four provided in the plate pocket to mount it with all 4 holes. Did not need to find longer or extra screws, the ones from the dealer as well as the ones that came from BumpTek fit perfectly. The other day I was inching up as close as I could to a garage spot wall and got a bit too close, felt the wall stop me from moving up and immediately thought, shoot I scratched up my bumper. Was not the case, just a small small scruff on the plate pocket and not a mark on my plate, bumper, or body paint. I have no doubt that in my minor bump the plate pocket dampened the force to something harmless as well as protected my plate and paint from getting scratched up. I was however only inching at a slow parking crawl, which is exactly the kind of thing this plate pocket is made to protect against, don't think it'd do much in collisions at any speed greater than an accidental parking fender bender. I am more confident that if I leave my car on the street and someone backed up too close to my car parked behind it, this would dampen the blow and protect my front from scratches and scruffs as long as they didn't speed backwards into me. Did what I expected it to, very satisfied.

I live in Boston and the way people here drive and park just makes me so anxious! I've gotten scratches, bumps, and all sorts of dings from reckless drivers. After I got a new car, I decided I had to take preventative measures so I bought this BumpTek extreme edition rubber license frame. I don't like to mess around so I just got the thicker extreme edition (which is 0.5" thicker than the classic edition). The rubber material is quite thick and substantial, but doesn't look ridiculous. Also, the holes in the Bumptek rubber license cover are 7 inches apart (which is perfect for the holes that came pre-drilled in my license plate and front bumper). I read some reviews for other rubber license plate protectors which said that if the rubber frame covers the words in your license plate, you can get a ticket. My Massachusetts license didn't have any of the words/numbers covered by this Bumptek rubber frame. Thank goodness!Overall, I feel like this will definitely keep my car from getting dinged from bad drivers trying to parallel park in front of me.
