Product Description

capture card

Whether you’re streaming on Twitch, YouTube Gaming, Mixer, or preparing footage for upload, the Plugable Performance NIX Capture Card features the ability to capture at 1080p and 60 frames per second, a no-latency HDMI display pass through, and low system resource usage.

Record and stream exciting moments, full playthroughs, and more—from popular consoles like the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, or even your PC!

The capture card uses drivers built into modern operating systems (Windows, macOS, and Linux), and works with popular open streaming solutions such as OBS, XSplit, and more. No proprietary bloatware. Minimal system resources required. Game on!

For step-by-step instructions on setting up the capture card with Windows, macOS, or Linux and a wide variety of popular supported sources (Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, PS4, PS4 Pro, Nintendo Switch), and other important information, please view the "Installation Manual.pdf" and "User Guide.pdf" located in the Product Information section of this listing.

Note: The input does not allow recording from HDCP-enabled sources such as Blu-ray players, set-top boxes, older consoles with HDMI output (i.e. PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360), or streaming devices. The PlayStation 4 must have HDCP manually disabled in its settings.

Streaming, capturing, and pass through are supported at a max resolution of 1080p 60Hz (1920x1080 @ 60Hz), via supported streaming platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, or Mixer.

HDMI 1.4 Pass Through with Near-Zero Latency

With 1080p 60Hz (1920x1080 @ 60Hz) HDMI pass through, a splitter is not required for capturing all of your exciting gaming moments.

Plug your console or PC into the HDMI input port, and your display into the HDMI output port, for latency-free and hassle-free pass through. So you won't need an HDMI splitter just to get a video feed to your display.

Note: Monitor modes above 1920x1080 @ 60Hz are not supported via pass through.

USB-c usb 3.0 thunderbolt 3 thunderbolt 4

Supports USB 3.0 and USB-C Connections

The NIX capture card includes both USB-C and USB 3.0 (USB-A) cables, so you can connect to virtually any modern Windows, macOS*, or Linux system with USB 3.0 (or higher) ports.

USB-A is the traditional rectangular USB port. USB-C is a newer standard with an oblong oval-shaped connector found on more recent computers. Thunderbolt 3 ports also function as USB-C ports.

USB 3.0 is also listed as USB 3.1 (Gen 1)/USB 3.2 (Gen 1) by some computer manufacturers. USB 2.0 connections will limit capture quality.

* Mac systems can be used for recording other platforms but are not compatible as input source.

Plug and Play, Not Proprietary

By utilizing built-in drivers in your operating system for direct capture, you don’t have to take away from battling it out online trying to manage clunky additional software or drivers.

With the lowest resource usage around, the NIX capture card doesn’t waste precious memory capacity or CPU/GPU performance to capture your gaming footage.

Compatibility Details

The NIX capture card is able to capture HDMI output from popular gaming consoles such as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch!

Note: macOS, and platforms which require High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP), such as Blu-ray/DVD players, iPadOS/iOS, Roku, Netflix, etc, are not supported as sources. Older consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 require HDCP on their HDMI outputs and are not supported.

The capture card uses Frame Rate Up Conversion (FRUC) to take input from the source platform (PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4) and upsample the video to 1920x1080 at 60 frames per second. In some cases streamed text may appear smaller in appearance compared to the pass through display.

I purchased the Pluggable HDMI to USB converter are researching MANY lower cost options. This one came out on top, and I'm very glad I bought it. One of the common complaints about the low cost versions was heat. There were numerous complaints that the cheap "stick" type converters would run hot and finally die. Assuming most of these low cost adapters use the same chip sets, I thought that a larger metal case would help to keep it cool. After looking at a lot of them, this one bubbled to the top. And at $29 is only about $10 more than the lowest cost stick type converter.Turns out its a very nice unit. Has a large and very solid aluminum case with actual screws, and even has an "on" led light on the top. Came packaged in a very nice box with both and HDMI and both USB 3.0 and USB-C cables. Installation was plug and play on my windows 10 computer. No driver or software required. The Windows camera app found it right away.Note: My application is to mimic an external monitor for my ham radio so that I can share it on zoom calls. And for that this was perfect. This also meant I did not need 1080p resolution at 60fps. So I use it at 768p and 30fps. If you require higher resolution and the faster frame rate, I'm sure it will get warm and you better have a fast PC. The radio has a DVI-D external monitor output so I had to also buy a DVI-D to HDMI adapter for about $7.The only thing that would make the design better is if all the connectors came out on one side. As it is, the cables come out the ends which makes organizing a little messy (see photo). This is just my OCD showing and not worth docking a star however.Time will tell if this lasts as long as I hope it will but my guess is that it will last plenty long enough and at $29 it's a great buy.

I purchased this so I could livestream my daughter's senior recital and it worked fantastic. I was pleased to find a product that worked as described for the pricepoint. Too often the less expensive electronics fail to meet expectations, but this works like a charm with absolutely no additional setup.

We use this to connect an existing camcorder (with HDMI output) to a PC to provide video and audio input for Zoom meetings. Straightforward to plug in the HDMI cable from the camera and USB A or C from the PC. It is powered by the USB cable from the PC. We haven't had any problems with it so far.

Ordered for my child. Arrived quickly, but the card that arrived did not work. Child reached out to customer service who helped troubleshoot things and determined card was defective. Send a replacement ASAP. Replacement arrived and worked perfectly. Child was very happy and I am very impressed as this all occurred within 1 to 1.5 weeks of first (original) card arriving.

We had purchased this capture device for live streaming our church services from a laptop since our services are now held outdoors. The device was easy to hook up, use and worked well with our broadcast software (Streamlabs OSB). However, it had a very poor audio connection that introduced some static distortion that we were not able to remedy. So, we ended up returning the capture device for a full refund (thank you) and are now going another direction.

If you’re like me, you’re looking at this product to use as a capture card between a console and your Mac/PC. This capture card is cheap and does the trick! I’m only giving 4 stars because it’s not user friendly or “plug and play.”It takes some knowledge on tweaking image quality and stream quality. I’m moderately experienced in streaming/video editing & this took a bit to get fine tuned. If you need a capture card, and don’t want to wait for the HD60s+ to restock, the Nix capture will serve its purpose until you upgrade!

Plug in and play as advertised, however there are some minor setting that you need to manually tweak on your own PC. The sound and picture are fairly accurate however the display color is every so slightly washed and there is a slight sharpness filter. However these can be both rectified through simple filters.Sound wasn't an issue when corrected, for whatever reason the default sound quality is fairly poor but again this can be rectified very easily through your control panelOverall: It requires a very minimal effort on your end to correct some minor things however once done; this capture card is fantastic for the price. Picture is great and the card itself doesn't get too hot or overheat.

10/10 would recommend for playing on a separate screen to what you stream on. Works perfectly with Mac OS and streamlabs!

Product seems to work quite well with OBS on Debian Linux and doesn't require any complicated setup - you plug and go. The capture card itself is five stars; however, I deducted one star because of the instructions that come in the box being very vague.
