I checked with the feature on Amazon that connects “my garage” and selected my pickup, which said it fits. This makes sense as I know GM vehicles well and know that the cooling fans and clutches on V8 engines were not changed spanning many generations. Silverado and Sierra are the same trucks with different brand badges, except for specific newer models that offered brand specific features, but the running gears are all compatible. Many sellers don’t list all the vehicles that their products are compatible with always. Ex: If I can’t find a part for my Suzuki Sidekick or the price is high, I can look for the same part for a Geo Tracker and find it or find it cheaper. The Geo Tracker is built by Suzuki and is a rebadged Suzuki Sidekick. Symptoms of my 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 litre were it would run at proper temp as long as I was driving. In heavy traffic, it would continue to run at normal temp, but if it idled longer than 5-10 minutes depending on how high ambient temperature was, the temperature gauge would climb above normal and a/c compressor would shut off as it should. The temp gauge would go as high as approximately 220°. I idle a fair amount because my dogs go with me pretty much everywhere, and I leave the a/c on for them and lock the truck if I’m going to make a stop for fuel or a quick trip for groceries, hardware store, etc. I installed this clutch yesterday, cleaned out any debris, back flushed the fins of the radiator with a garden hose and washed the fan shroud while I had it all apart. I tested it by letting it idle for about 30 minutes in the driveway with the a/c on and it checked out great. Granted, I live on top of a mountain outside city limits and my driveway is shaded enough that even though the sun was shining and it was 90° at the time, my headlamps came on automatically. I drove into town and left it idling at one store for 10 minutes or so confident it would keep the engine cool, and it did. But at the next stop which was about 10 minutes, the temperature gauge went up to approximately 250° and revving the engine to engage the clutch took a long time and I had to rev higher (2500 rpm as opposed to about 1500 rpm) to get it to engage, and then it took longer to bring the temp down to normal than it would have with the original clutch. I had several more quick stops to make and it repeatedly rose above normal running temp at each stop. I’m very disappointed with it, and I just saw that this item is not available now, but if it comes back I would highly recommend going with a different brand. Due to covid and my mother living in another state, I did not drive the truck very often at the time I bought it and used a more fuel efficient car to travel out of state to visit her and take care of her matters, which kept me very busy and I did not install it right after buying it. It was kept in its original box and in dry, climate controlled storage. I have not contacted the seller and too much time has passed, so I’m pretty confident that they would not help me with a return or warranty. I have made a note to stay away from this seller/brand for parts in the future unless I get a positive response from the seller.
