We've had horses for 50 years. Living in AZ, colic is a given. It's dry, hot, with lots of sandy soil. We were always told that psyllium was the solution, but found it did not prevent colic, and actually lost our first horse three years ago adhering to a vet's recommendation to give psyllium only. It was when we discovered another review from a horse owner swearing by Probios probiotics that we decided to try something different. It has been a lifesaver! For the past two years we have supplemented our horses with Probios and we have had zero colic issues (we currently have 4 older horses from 16 to 40 years of age, all prone to colic). We also use the Probios paste if needed, and have even helped other neighbors save their horses from colic after they were down on the ground by donating tubes of the paste when they called in a panic. Every single time the horses get back on their feet and their feed. So we no longer incorporate psyllium routinely into their diets nor follow the vet's guidelines to do so, and use Probios instead. As ranchers, we also use Probios on our cattle, our donkeys, and our guardian dogs. Good gut health with probiotics has made all the difference in our animals and we highly recommend it!

Any time an animal is given antibiotics, a probiotic should also be administered. We go a step further and while we don't use any antibiotics in our chicken keeping, we proactively add probiotics to their daily feed as a health booster.
